Just the Facts: it makes no sense that Americans fight one another over defending the American people by defending our borders as well as going after visa overstays- let’s get on the same page, please

Democrats want to continue pushing up the minimum wage yet they give employers the option of hiring illegals with a nod-nod and a wink-wink, and so American workers experience harm what with declining wages, disappearing benefits, and lack of mobility while illegals get slapped over Big Government’s shoulder, patted on the back, burped, diapers changed, and then put back into the basinet.

WINTER SESSION 2019

BLOG POST #2,994 AT THE AICP-END

663 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2020

If our nation’s enemies are dividing us, they are doing it on race and on defending the border; let’s stop them in their tracks and say, “NO MORE!”

Century City, CA, 01-11-2019 Friday: I find it amazing that the Democrats have drawn this intractable line in the sand, that they have chosen to die on this hill, that fighting giving money to President Trump so he can erect a wall to protect Americans is worth endangering the country than to be perceived to giving in.  There is NO ‘giving in’ when it comes to securing the nation and one would think that the hard-learned lessons we got, whether we wanted them or not, on September 11, 2001, would still be as resilient within our minds today as they were back then.

We are told- constantly, almost- by the Democrats that MORE illegal immigrants (of course, they NEVER couple the words ‘illegal’ and ‘immigrants’ together, seeing ALL immigrants as virtuous, God-fearing people) come into the country via the airlines and disappear into the shadows as visa overstays.  While the statistics might show that is true, does it not make sense that if we can tamp down on one avenue of entry, i.e., the southern border, that we can then work on making sure people depart the country when their visas end?  Seems reasonable to me.

As you have heard me say, ad nauseum in fact, I, like most of the rest of my colleagues began life as a liberal, as a leftist, as a Democrat, or as a socialist; hell, my parents were socialists but when one inhabits the left and makes no money, one is fervent, committed to the “Cause.”  When one begins making money and watches the tax collector yank away a good third-to-a-half of one’s income, then one’s mind begins clearing and they pull away.

I could not stay in business if I were a leftist, I am not running a vegetarian restaurant in Lower Paia, Hawaii, where the hipster tourists go; no, I am running an extremely profitable Greek-Mediterranean restaurant in Century City and I must watch after every last red cent as if I do not, then we could go belly up in a matter of several months.

My views on immigration have always been somewhat conservative.  I have no problem hiring immigrants as long as they provide the documentation required by government, a valid green card and several other documents.  Now, we use E-Verify even if it might piss off Sacramento, we do not care, because eventually, the federal government is going to win on the issue of immigration as it is not in the purview of the states but in that of the feds.  THEY tell us what is and what is not immigration law.

Back to the issue of a wall on the southern border, Democrats, give the man his money so he can get the construction going because at some point, illegal immigration is going to affect YOU.  Whether a loved one suffers at the hands of an illegal alien or a cherished neighbor, a loyal employee, a beloved friend, when something horrible occurs close to you and the person responsible for the heinous act should not have been in the country, what will you do?  What will you say?

Sadly, I think many elected liberal Democrats would find a crime that occurred close to home sad but not enough to make them change their views.  They cannot change their views.  They require a pliant, dependent base, one that will turn out every election and which can get by on far less than an average American can.

This also might be the reason why so many liberal areas now want to allow legal pot.  I think they feel that if the younger voters spend their time in a haze, so much the better, because as illegal aliens are rewarded with FREE health care, FREE higher education, FREE this and FREE that, they won’t complain as they are able to purchase their weed without having to fear the DEA swooping down upon them.

As President Trump pointed out in Tuesday night’s Oval Office address, most of the heroin, fentanyl, crack cocaine, and other hard core drugs flow across the southern border.  If we have an average of 300 of our fellow citizens dying every flipping week from drug overdoses then tell me, is that NOT a crisis?  I sure as heck think it is so let’s do something to stop it.

Personally, I hope (at the time I began writing this it had not yet happened) that President Trump declares a national emergency.  If the Democrats won’t play ball, fine, let’s appropriate the money and get down to it.  President Andrew Jackson defied a court order when he began deporting the “Five Civilized Tribes” from east of the Mississippi and when the Supreme Court called him out on it, he asked them ‘who was going to stop him?  With what army?’

Look, I recognize that the deportations of the Cherokee, Chickasaw, Creek, Choctaw, and Seminole Indians was not a good thing and that we would like presidents to work within the confines of the law; yet, courts and special prosecutors seem to have more power when it comes to defying presidents trying to defend the country.  Where the heck did we go wrong?  When in God’s Holy Name did we not stop one political party from going over the edge and into the bubbling vats of lunatic Marxism?

Fellow Americans, let us agree that we must protect our country and that it requires ALL of us to do it together.  Let us set aside the yammering and the anger because if you want to know the truth, if ANYONE is subverting our country by working with our enemies, i.e., Russia, China, Iran, or Venezuela, then this is where and how they do it because they put us at one another’s throats; ENOUGH!

See you tomorrow, thank you for joining me and please- let me know what you think about what I have said.

Always embroiled in legal disputes with the infamous Matthew Katz, in 1989, Moby Grape released their next effort, “Legendary Grape” on July 11, 1989.  Once more, the band featured the same hard-driving quartet: Jerry Miller (lead guitar/vocals), Don Stevenson (drums/vocals) Peter Lewis (guitars/vocals), and Bob Mosley (bass/vocals).  All band members contributed tunes to the effort and the effort is a good one, although originally released as ‘the Melvilles,’ (a play on the name of the author who wrote “Moby Dick”), the name they used to avoid former manager Katz and his greedy tentacles, it now bears the name you see posted above.  We hope you will use the link we provide you here so you can visit Amazon.com where you can get it in the format, the condition, and the price that is right for you—you will love it—so please check it out now.  You can thank us later.

Spooky Tooth reformed with a somewhat new cast of musicians in 1973 and released their next album, “You Broke My Heart so I busted your Jaw” on May 13, 1973.  The lineup now included Mike Harrison (vocals/keyboards), Gary Wright (keyboards/vocals), Chris Stewart and Val Burke (bass), Bryson Graham (drums), and Mick Jones (guitars).  Of course, when a band breaks up, reforms, and then hits the studio and the road, things are not always quite the same.  However, this effort is superb and a must-own for every serious fan of British rock and blues as there is no other vocalist alive with the pent-up talent of Mike Harrison.  Look for it now at your favorite brick-and-mortar or online music store- you will not disappoint yourself.

Just the Facts: the Results are in for Round One of the Semi-Finals for the First Annual Lavrentiy Beria Award are in- check them out!

I guess next year- in the interests of making things fair- we will have to set parameters deemed ‘fair’ for all of us and not just these right-wing troglodytes who while barely concealing their mirth nominated one good person after another for this ‘award.’

Lavrentiy Beria First Semi-Finals Balloting Results

Arvin, CA, 12-13-2018 Thursday:  As you know, the American Institute of Culinary Politics-Elemental News of the Day has a new award, the First Annual Lavrentiy Beria award named after the thug who ran Josef Stalin’s feared secret police, the NKVD, the forerunner of the KGB and the FSB.  During World War II, the NKVD were the political commissars who followed the troops into battle eliminating any who might have wavered in the face of the Axis invaders, especially on the soil of Mother Russia.

Comrade Beria took great delight in liquidating the enemies of the Revolution, whomever Stalin directed him required ‘special handling,’ many times Beria would do the honors himself down in the depths of the notorious Lubyanka Prison in Moscow.  Lined up against the wall, the NKVD chief would be the one to put the bullet in the back of the head, typically after torturing ‘confessions’ out of the designated enemies.

Now, my fellow colleagues here at the blog- with the exception of Chef Itzi who is a dedicated liberal like I am- chose heavily among liberal and left-of-center nominees with no one such as the President or any of his henchmen in the running this year.

I guess next year- in the interests of making things fair- we will have to set parameters deemed ‘fair’ for all of us and not just these right-wing troglodytes who while barely concealing their mirth nominated one good person after another for this ‘award.’

The balloting was open to friends and family of the blog with the blogs’ President Chef Alvin being in charge of the balloting.  All told with friends, family, and employees, as well as chef-bloggers and our support staff, we have approximately 963 people who submitted ballots.  (Note: the First Annual Lavrentiy Beria Award is a satirical award, we are not calling for violence to happen to any of the contestants, thank you very much).

The first round of balloting is for first semi-final and these are the contestants and here is how they polled:

  1. Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel- failure to do anything about Nikolas Cruz or the shooting at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL, on 02-14-2018 as well as for claiming he is doing a marvelous job. 0 votes– eliminated from the competition
  2. Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf- for warning illegal aliens of impending ICE raids and how to avoid them. 0 votes– eliminated from the competition
  3. Adam Schiff. 97 votes for the face of the Resistance Movement.
  4. Governor Jerry Brown and Attorney-General Xavier Becerra over their defense of CA being a slave state. 39 votes for the dynamic duo
  5. Louis Farrakhan for his comments regarding Jews. 73 votes for the bigoted minister.
  6. Andrew McCabe- former deputy FBI director. 37 votes for the apparent fall guy.
  7. Judge Rudy Contreras of the FISA Court who gave Peter Strzok his warrant and is his good friend. 0 votes.  No one knows the jurist- eliminated from the competition.
  8. Dana Millbank. 0 votes.  Eliminated from the competition
  9. Joy Behar. As horrible as this woman can be, 17 votes for her.  Even I despise her.
  10. Maxine Waters for advocating violence on weekend of 06-23-to-24-2018. 126 votes for the erstwhile congresswoman.
  11. Omarosa Manigault-Newman. 1 vote for this skank. Eliminated from the competition
  12. Juan Williams and Geraldo Rivera. I understand why these two disturb many of my colleagues as they both seem ready to thump their chests in mock protest instead of actually taking a stand and doing something about the depredations the President seeming gets away with doing.  32 votes for them.
  13. Peter Strzok. Due to his testimony earlier in the year, many people despise this guy, especially the women as he reminds them of past bad experiences with men like him in the past.  138 votes.
  14. John Brennan. Although this man is not popular, he only garnered 15 votes.
  15. Barack Hussein Obama. Not a single vote; good.  Eliminated from the competition
  16. A fascist organization (I am not stupid- of course they are), they received 43 votes.
  17. Michael Avenatti for gang rape claim. A very unattractive man and an abuser of women, he tied with Peter Strzok with 138 votes.
  18. Stormy Daniels for losing her lawsuit after accusing POTUS of doing all sorts of things. She received 0 votes as the voters see her more as a victim than someone deserving of the prize- eliminated from the competition.
  19. Dianne Feinstein for what she did to Brett Kavanaugh. The Senator received 26 votes.
  20. Brian Stelter. The little newsman received 0 votes.  Eliminated from the competition
  21. Cory “Spartacus” Booker. The New Jersey senator and potential nominee of the Democratic Party in 2020, he received 5 votes.  Eliminated from the competition
  22. Kamala Harris. Another potential nominee for the Dems in 2020, she received 12 votes.
  23. Mazie Hirono. The senator from Hawaii received 116 votes.
  24. Kirsten Gillibrand. As surprising as it seems, the New York senator and possible 2020 nominee for the Democratic Party received 1 vote.  Eliminated from the competition
  25. Robert S. Mueller III. The special prosecutor received 1 vote.  I think people were frightened of voting for him to receive the Lavrentiy Beria Award- eliminated from the competition.
  26. Jeff Flake. 0 votes- eliminated from the competition.
  27. John Kasich. 0 votes.  Eliminated from the competition.
  28. Hillary Clinton. Seemingly ‘old news,’ the possible 2020 nominee of the Democratic Party received 33 votes.
  29. Jim Acosta. Most people laughed at poor old Jim; he received 1 vote.   Eliminated from the competition.
  30. Mitt Romney. Why would anyone vote for him?  The man is a loser, he received 0 votes– eliminated from the competition.
  31. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Amazingly, she received 12 votes.

The top 10 advance to the second semi-finals, which Stinkbug will present next week.  Here are your top 10 for the First Annual Lavrentiy Beria Award:

Tied for first place: Peter Strzok and Michael Avenatti with 138 votes apiece.

Maxine Waters holds third place with 126 votes.

Mazie Hirono holds fourth place as of the first polling with 116 votes.

Adam Schiff holds fifth place (97 votes) while the Minister Farrakhan holds sixth with 73 votes.

Antifa comes in seventh place with 43 votes.

Governor Jerry Brown and Attorney-General Xavier Becerra hold eighth place with 39 votes while fired Assistant FBI Director Andrew McCabe comes in ninth with 37 votes.

Tenth place is Hillary Clinton with 33 votes.

Eleventh place is Juan Williams and Geraldo Rivera with 32 votes.

Dianne Feinstein is in twelfth place with 26 votes.

Joy Behar holds thirteenth place with 17 votes.

John Brennan holds fourteenth place with 15 votes.

Kamala Harris holds fifteenth place with 12 votes.

If a nominee cannot get 10 votes or higher, he or she is out of the running so next week, voting begins anew for the second semi-finals with Mo presenting the Grand Prize at the end of the year.

Friends, thank you for being here today;  I hope you are as excited as we are as our first award given out in the history of our blog continues.  I appreciate you being here today.  Perhaps, we will discuss the contestants tomorrow.

The Small Faces released their ‘fourth’ album, this one the U.S. version of “Small Faces,” “There are but Four Small Faces” (June 23, 1967).  This album had more psychedelic and harder rock overtones and produced a big American hit, “Itchycoo Park.”  The songwriting duo of Steve Marriott and Ronnie Lane, augmented by Ian McLagan were crafting some amazing music that would come to fruition on their next and final album, the totally psychedelic “Ogden’s Nut Gone Flake,” an album that rivaled “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely-Hearts Club Band.”  If you want to hear one of the lesser-known and/or overlooked bands of the early-to-mid-1960s, use the link we provide you here so you can visit Amazon.com.  Once there, you can pick it up in the format, the condition, and the price that works best for you.  We think you will enjoy it.
