ALBUM OF THE DAY AT THE AICPENDBLOG.COM:

Electric Light Orchestra released their biggest seller in the UK yet, “Discovery,” on May 31, 1979.  The album was somewhat a change in direction featuring the lineup of Jeff Lynne (vocals, guitars, synthesizers), Bev Bevin (drums/percussion), Richard Tandy (keyboards, guitars, backing vocals), Kelly Groucutt (bass, backing vocals), Melvyn Gale (cello), Mik Kaminski (violin), and Hugh McDowell (cello) although some of the string players were finding their parts absorbed by synthesizers and other electronic innovations.  Sad.   Still, this is a superb addition to the group’s growing discography, one we hope you will beat the bushes searching for as it contains some stellar tunes such as “Shine a Little Love” and “Don’t Bring Me Down.”  Excellent music by one of the all-time best bands of the era.

  53. 2020 Thursday A: In the three states in which, the American Institute of Culinary Politics-The Elemental News of the Day has chef-authors, California, Hawaii, and Washington, here are the stats, Golden State first: 119,807 confirmed cases, 4,422 confirmed deaths, but Governor ‘Little Gavin’ Newsom will not share the number of confirmed recoveries. Shame on him. In the Aloha State, here are the stats: 653 confirmed cases, 17 confirmed deaths, but 609 confirmed recoveries which is incredibly good. Thank you, Governor David Ige, perhaps you can urge Gavin Newsom and Jay Inslee to do the same? Finally, in the Evergreen State, here are the stats: 22,729 confirmed cases, 1,138 confirmed deaths, but much like California, NO mention of confirmed recoveries which says it’s all about politics.
  54. 2020 Thursday B: U.S. Attorney-General announces that Justice is looking into Antifa and other ‘foreign actors’ involved in the riots crippling the United States at the moment. About time because the criminal scum must be found hiding under whatever rocks they do, rounded up, and sent to prison for life. Harmeet Dhillon launches a lawsuit on behalf of beaten journalist Andy Ngo in Portland, Oregon, last year. Get them, Harmeet!  Again, we must say that the majority of us writing for the AICPENDBLOG.COM now believe that communist China is colluding with the Democratic Party who channels Beijing’s dark money to its various action groups such as Black Lives Matter and Antifa. Time to bring ALL of them down.

[i] We presented the music of Quicksilver Messenger Service on two different occasions.  The first commenced on Friday, 25-March-2011 through Monday, 04-April-2011.  The second cycle with newer albums began on Tuesday, 20-August-2013 through Monday, 02-September-2013.  We hope you will check the albums out by visiting whatever site you do for nothing but the absolute best in rock music.

[ii] Juan Peron’s wife, Eva Peron, is the woman who that dingbat from the Bronx, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez models her loser self after which is why we have bestowed upon her the name, “Baby Evita.”

[iii] We began promoting the music of the Steve Miller Band beginning on Wednesday, 27-July-2011 through Wednesday, 24-August-2011 and then did a second stint on Sunday, 20-April-2014.  We hope you will check the music of this amazing San Francisco, California, acid-rock blues band.

[iv] We definitely look forward to presenting the music of Joe Cocker, the famed British ex-bricklayer who blew the minds of the world at the 1969 Woodstock Music and Arts Festival.  Please stay tuned for further developments.

[v] Not sure when we will begin promoting the music of George Thorogood but when we do you will be the first to know.

[vi] We began promoting the music of both the Beatles and the band’s individual components on Friday, 04-November-2016 through Sunday, 11-June-2018.  Besides the Beatles, we also promoted the music of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison as well as the Traveling Wilburys.    The album, “Help!” appeared on Tuesday, 15-November-2016.  Please seek out this massive offering by visiting the blog posts between those dates. You will be glad you did.

[vii] In 2020, Democrats are whining that Donald Trump wanted a quid pro quo from Ukraine to get U.S. military aid.  Yet here, we have a prime example as to WHY and HOW foreign aid is doled out by countries around the world.  President Jimmy Carter said that ‘he would consider human rights abuses before doling out American aid to countries around the world.  Quid pro quo?  You had better flipping believe it and a damned good one in our view so Democrats, stop with the f**king sniveling, enough is enough already.

[viii] In 2019, the question is, “Is the late John Dingell looking UP or is he looking DOWN?

[ix] Many believe Barack Obama should be disqualified as a president because most believe he was born outside the United States which would ban him from ever seeking the highest office in the land.  At the very least, an asterisk should be placed by his name in all U.S. history books.

Next year will be 52 years since the infamous Chicago street riots at the Democratic National Convention; will Milwaukee be a repeat?

Now, a quick note here. For those who do not know the distinction between ‘hippies’ and ‘yippies,’ the former were the Scott McKenzie- “If You’re Going to San Francisco (be sure to put Some Flowers in your Hair)” while the yippies were the far-left, radicalized, Marx-breathing scumbags who sought to do the work of the Soviet Union and communist China in the United States.

Democrats, you reap what you sow…

Century City, CA, 06-04-2019 Tuesday:  This past weekend, the California Democratic Party held its annual confab in which almost all of the 24 candidates came to attack the major one who was not on site, former Vice President Joe Biden.  While this was to be expected by all rational viewers of the news, what was somewhat unexpected was the craziness of the people in attendance.  Yes, I get it, it’s California but folks the people were screaming and yelling like the rabid dogs they are, anytime one of the potential nominees veered away from screeching “SOCIALISM” at the top of his or her lungs, the crowd went nuts.  They want SOCIALISM and they want it NOW.

Just the Facts: we must thank our lucky stars that Jussie Smollett was unclear about camera angles in his staged beating as well as did not stage it at the height of a hot, humid summer

Can you imagine the mayhem and the violence that would have spiraled rapidly out of control if the actor’s faux beating was on an endless tape loop and it was a boiling hot August? Riots would have engulfed Chicago, they would have exploded in every other major and mid-level city as angry blacks and miffed gays would be out in the streets, seeking vengeance. It would have been extremely ugly and possibly deadly.

Jussie Smollett #6 02-19-2019 (400).jpg

Jussie Smollett now must pay the price for making up a Hate Crime

Delano, CA, 02-24-2019 Sunday:  Well, the Jussie Smollett tragedy is just that…a tragedy for—HIM.  This past Thursday, a day after I authored my post at the secondary blog regarding this made-for-television farce, the Chicago cops held a news conference and laid out everything we basically already knew: that Little Jussie manufactured his very own ‘beating,’ one that took place on a snowy morning after 2:00 a.m. in Chi-Town.

That he thought he could get away with the crime is ludicrous as that city like most other cities across the nation is rife with cameras in every nook, crack, and cranny.  It was only a matter of time before the cops painstakingly traced the movements of the two men captured on them, both forward and backward to the point they identified them, picked them up, and then sweated them for 47 hours.

We should consider ourselves extremely lucky that Smollett did not write a convincing script, that he did not spend time working out various street camera angles so that when his two hired dupes accosted him on the street, it would be forever frozen in our memories like the Rodney King ass-whooping of two decades-plus ago.

We, like most everyone else, remained relatively mum on this story because it just did not ‘feel right.’  We expected another shoe to drop and while not knowing exactly what it was going to be, we knew it would be oncoming at some point if we just awaited it patiently.

Smollett has done himself a major disservice because instead of his fellow conspirators biting the bullet and going down for him, they flipped on him and now the young actor is in a heap of trouble, especially if the FBI decides to prosecute him on mail fraud.  Remember this episode began with him mailing himself a letter to where he works, one with threatening, vile language and containing ground-up aspirin so he could cry, blubber, and snivel.

Only, Fox TV did not pay it any attention.  I am sure they receive all manner of mail, both pro and con of the show, so what more could they do other than to set it aside and hand it over to the cops?  Only, they did not hand it over to the cops and so Jussie was twice as upset as he would have been had the network and the show circled the wagons around him.

Since for some, inexplicable reason the network did NOT react, Jussie had to up the ante, which he did, hoping for what he said would be the end result of the network giving him a larger salary (?) instead of possibly writing him out of the show, “Empire.”  Sadly for him, his script-writing abilities are not that good.

I guess we should thank our lucky stars that the actor failed in lining up his ‘assault’ with the camera view that would give him lifelong notoriety as even when proven false of him, a gay black actor suffering at the hands of ‘detestable Trumpkins’ but also that he elected NOT to do it at the height of summer.

In most every other race riot, people lose their lives on both sides of the line.  Angry blacks will go to great lengths to make sure the American people register their rage at being treated unjustly and some among them end up losing their lives just as white people in the wrong place at the wrong time suffer beatings and possibly life-threatening injuries, if not death.

When the truth of the matter comes out, we cannot hit the ‘redo’ button on the keyboard and bring back people who are dead, repair their grievous injuries, and get them out of jail if they have done something that put them there.  Likewise, we cannot plaster over the smoldering hostility as there will always be those who do not believe the truth when it punches them smack-dab in their faces.

Add to that the humongous amount of property damage, whether it be burned and looted stores, cars set ablaze, attacks on local infrastructure and the like and events such as these cost hundreds of millions of dollars.  All for what?

The bad thing about what Mr. Smollett did is that he sought to perpetrate a HATE CRIME on Trump voters in general and the president in particular.  Jussie has drunk of the poisoned Kool-Aid.  He said his attackers beat him, poured bleach on him, put a noose around his neck, and told him, “THIS IS MAGA COUNTRY (BITCH- I added the last part as it seems to fit the narrative) and that HE HAS NO PLACE IN IT.”

Until he told a friendly news person he suffered at the hands of Trumpkins because ‘I’m hard on 45,’ no one I know knew he said stuff about Trump.  So what?  Millions of other people do, too, all because they have been given a false narrative via the fake news purveyors.

In the end, no one knows what is going to befall Jussie Smollett.  What I do know is that after a couple of seasons of watching Empire, my wife and I gave it up because it was all too predictable: one character after another being played by their manipulated father/boyfriend/husband/ex-husband that one could more or less predict the outcome of any given season.

I would hope Little Jussie spend some time in the Cook County Jail just as he should in federal prison.  We cannot reward these crimes nor can we give him a pass simply because he is a gay black actor.  I hope the judge throws the book at this punk as the problems he MIGHT have caused had he been successful, would be with us for decades to come.

See you next time.  God bless and lot’s of love.  I will be back sometime most likely in August.

This is a cartoonish caricature of me, one created by up-and-coming Bakersfield street artist, Simone, one I am pleased to say looks ‘rather good.’  I have been in professional food service for a long, long time, moving into management back in 1973.  At the time, I was the Food and Beverage Director at one of the hotels in Bakersfield, CA, located on Union Avenue.  I was in my late thirties at the time.  I am still working at one of the local hotels in the nearby town of Delano, CA, a place that has been my home for the past 10 years.  Our city has experienced marvelous growth and is fast becoming a player in county politics.

Chef Charles Smithenstein writes from Delano, California.

Chef Charles Smithenstein is a liberal Republican (some call him a ‘RINO’).
