ALBUM OF THE DAY AT THE AICPENDBLOG.COM:

Famed guitarist Michael Schenker decided that he would record an album of songs that influenced him early on in his career and brought together a variety of musicians to help him knock out 13 amazing tunes.  “By Invitation Only” came out on June 25, 2011 and featured not only the blazing guitarist but a who’s who of rockers such as bassists Tony Franklin (The Firm), Tony Levin (Peter Gabriel), Jeff Pilson (Dokken, Dio, Foreigner), among others as well as drummers such as Mike Baird (Journey), Simon Wright (AC/DC, Dio), Aynsley Dunbar (Journey, Jefferson Starship), among others.  Most of the tunes are recorded as power trios with the exception of one in which, a saxophone solo was essential.  Say what you will but it appears that Mr. Schenker NEVER sleeps (must be some good stuff).  Seek him out and add it to your collection- you will be glad you did.

  36. 1954 Sunday: The second phase of the Battle of Dien Bien Phu is preparing to erupt once again.  Both sides are resupplying and reinforcing their positions.  As People’s Army sappers continue ringing the outlying bases, Colonel Christian De Castries is now sending night patrols out to hamper the trenches drawing closer to posts such as Huguette 7.  Viet Minh infiltrators are crawling into the main base gathering intelligence and conducting acts of sabotage.  If not shot, the French put them to work as POWs.

  52. 2002 Thursday: In Pakistan, Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh along with three other suspects is charged with murder for their part in the kidnapping and beheading of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl.
  53. 2003 Friday: Poor Big Tobacco- an Illinois court hands tobacco giant Phillip Morris a $10.1 million judgment saying that the company lied to its consumers by applying the word ‘light’ to its ‘light cigarettes.’  Anyone who has ever smoked knows that both ‘lights’ and ‘kings’ are overloaded with nicotine- the addictive part of tobacco- as well as loads of tar and other impurities that ain’t good for you.   People in the 1920s and 1930s called them cancer sticks and that was before anyone truly knew just how bad tobacco truly was.  Big Tobacco sells its product to the Third World now more so than Western countries.
  54. 2004 Sunday: Former Democrat President Jimmy Carter, a Nobel Peace Prize winner, roundly condemns President George W. Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair ‘for waging an unnecessary war of aggression against Iraq.’  Millions are protesting all across the world, the Arab world is unhappy (even though Saddam Hussein is a murderous thug), and it’s clear that whatever support there was for the war has vanished.  On top of all this, al-Qaida swears that on the black market, they have purchased suitcase nukes and you know what that means- they want to set them off in the United States.
  55. 2005 Monday: Much to the horror of liberals and jihadists across the world, Israel announces that it will soon be constructing 3,500 new homes in its capital of Jerusalem.  Of course, the Palestinians run amok.   Elsewhere, a shootout between U.N. peacekeepers and angry former rebels in Haiti leaves four people dead- including TWO U.N. peacekeepers.  Meanwhile, U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan proposes increasing the number of members on the U.N. Security Council from 15 to an even two-dozen so he can get additional Third World members on it.
  56. 2006 Tuesday: The social media website Twitter was established with the sending of the first ‘tweet’ by co-founder Jack Dorsey, who wrote: “just setting up my twttr.”  Meanwhile, a day following talks between Vladimir Putin and Hu Jintao, Russian energy company Gazprom announces a new energy project that will see the construction of two major natural gas pipelines from Russia to communist China.  Construction will commence and competition is expected within five years.  The Russians will also provide aid to their Chi-Com allies by helping them construct at least two- and possibly more- nuclear power plants.  Conversely, Democrats in the United States are big on windmills and solar farms.
  57. 2007 Wednesday: U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice announces that the Bush administration is going to slash funding to the Palestinian Authority so that large portions of the aid cannot somehow find a way into the pockets of Hamas thugs.  Meanwhile, the Iranians declare that they are going to enrich uranium outside the bounds of recent U.N. agreements.
  58. 2008 Friday: The Chi-Com military convoy is heading to Tibet, thousands of soldiers determined to restore law and order (even though the Chi-Coms are usurpers).  The Tibetan people are seeking help from the wider world to liberate their country but no one cares about this far-away place.  The Chi-Coms will get away with their crimes.  FREE TIBET!  FREE HONG KONG!  FREE TAIWAN!  FREE MACAO!  FREE MAINLAND CHINA!
  59. 2009 Saturday: The Venezuelan military is launching a crackdown across the country as the GREAT SOCIALIST REVOLUTION continues under the AMAZING Simon Bolivar-wanna-be Hugo Chavez.  The thugs are taking control of air-and-seaports to prevent their people leaving or unauthorized goods from coming in.  You know, the government has to ‘wet its beak’ in every incoming good.  Meanwhile, Somali pirates leap into their high speed boats and grab an Indian freighter, taking both the ship and its entire crew hostage.
  60. 2010 Sunday: Muslims in Pakistan are upset, protesting in the streets over claims that Israel is blowing up sacred Muslim sites in their country.  This is bogus.  The Muslims know it’s bogus; yet they continue running amok causing trouble.  The problem has arisen over the fact that Israel is building in Jerusalem, their hereditary capitol, given to them by GOD ALMIGHTY.  Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu informs the world that ‘building in Jerusalem for us is like building in Tel Aviv.’  Stop with the sniveling already.
  61. 2011 Monday: The first full face transplant in history occurs as doctors at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, perform the feat.  Meanwhile, during the third night of outside intervention in the Libyan uprising, the home of Moammar Gaddafi is hit with more bombs than ever before (who gave Barack Obama the right to do this? —the man has a fricking Nobel Peace Prize!).  Elsewhere, Israel launches air strikes against Palestinian targets after the Palestinians fire rockets and mortars into the world’s only Jewish state.
  62. 2012 Wednesday: The Greek Parliament votes unanimously to approve the bailout deal given them by the European Union.  Elsewhere, violence continues across Iraq as unconfirmed reports arise in which ‘emos’- young Iraqi men who dress in Western styles- are having their skulls bashed in with cinderblocks by local jihadists.   Why would this be untrue?  We know ISIS loves throwing gays off high rooftops.   These people are animals and require eradication like the vermin they are.
  63. 2013 Thursday: The U.S. uses B-52 bombers in joint exercises with South Korea, which leads to North Korea threatening to bomb U.S. bases in Japan.   Meanwhile, the European Space Agency reveals scientific data that says the Universe is 13.82 billion years old.   Elsewhere, while President Barack Hussein Obama is visiting Palestine and Israel, Palestinian thugs begin firing some missiles into Israel.  Light ‘em up, Israelis.
  64. 2014 Friday: Vladimir Putin ratifies laws today annexing Crimea, defying sanction threats by the U.S. and the European Union.  Ukraine, however, signs an association accord with the European Union which goes against Vladimir Putin’s express wishes.  Meanwhile, Exxon Mobil takes the initiative among energy companies to disclose its plans for dealing with climate change in response to a 2013 shareholder resolution; the company’s move may set a standard for other energy companies to follow.
  65. 2015 Saturday: As ongoing talks between the USA and five other nations, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani expresses optimism that the group could strike a deal on the Iranian’s nuclear development—ostensibly for ‘peaceful purposes’—before a major deadline arrives at the end of the month—what a mess.  Elsewhere, in Yemen, the U.S. evacuates its remaining special operations forces as the country continues going from bad to worse.
  66. 2016 Monday: South Korea reports that North Korea is at it yet again this time firing off five shortrange missiles into the Sea of Japan.  They are pissed off at the new sanctions imposed upon them by the Obama administration.   Elsewhere, in Bamako, Mali, unidentified gunmen storm a hotel used by European Union military officials.   Other than one of the gunmen being shot dead, no one else was hurt.
  67. 2017 Tuesday: Famed head of the world-famous Gong Show- Chuck Barris- dies at age 87. The Gong Show was a great show.   Elsewhere, Iran continues its belligerence claiming they can enrich uranium up to 99-percent and no one can do a damned thing about it.  They don’t know President Donald J. Trump.   Next, Neil Gorsuch undergoes more grilling today before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee.
  68. 2018 Wednesday:  After the data of more than 50 million users is harvested by Cambridge Analytica, Facebook CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg admits he and his company ‘made mistakes.’  Meanwhile, the communist government of China continues amassing power as it announces measures to consolidate radio and television stations into one entity, “Voice of China.”  Finally, a suicide bomber kills 31 people and injures scores more who were celebrating the Persian New Year in Kabul, Afghanistan.
  69. 2019 Thursday: Six days after the Christchurch, New Zealand, massacre, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announces a ban on military-style assault weapons.  Meanwhile, President Donald J. Trump announces via Twitter that the United States should respect and recognize Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights.   Syria, however, says nothing in response.  What can they do about it?
  70. 2020 Saturday: The World Health Organization announces that worldwide, at least 20 vaccines for COVID-19, aka the Old Chi-Vi, the Yellow Flu, the Xi Jinping Bat Flu are in development.  Nations are racing to find ways to mitigate this crap and what makes it worse, the Chi-Coms are close-lipped as to how exactly the virus came about and from whence the evil s**t came.  Speculation centers on the Wuhan wet market where all manner of animals, fowl, insects, and seafood are crammed together, all defecating atop one another and being slaughtered with one another with blood, fecal matter, and other festering, noxious body fluids combine and get onto human beings.  What a barbaric f**king place.  YOU are what YOU eat.
  71. 2021 Sunday: Day 61 of the Biden Regime, yes, the nightmare is true.  Stick around to discover what the old coot and his Chi-Com handlers are up to today- you’ll be glad you did.

Just the Facts: Democrats can give away everything for free until they turn blue in the face; however, the same irrefutable, simple rules of economics still apply- someone still must foot the bill

The buzzword now is FREE. The Democrats want to give us FREE healthcare, they want to give us COST-FREE education, they want to give us GUARANTEED government jobs, as well as GUARANTEED healthy food, housing, and even leisure, free, free, and still more free. Someone must pay for all this FREE stuff. Who is going to pick up the tab?

SPRING SESSION 2019

BLOG POST #3,063 AT THE AICP-END

594 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2020

The FREER everything is, the more it costs…

Shafter, CA, 03-21-2019 Thursday: Amigos, welcome, here it is, one minute after midnight and those of us in the world of professional food service are either still at work, getting up and preparing to go to work, or will soon be heading home to sleep a few restless hours before doing the whole show over again.  It is what it is, to own a business or to have a job in the United States of America is a grand and glorious thing.  Only here do we truly have the ability to carve our own way throughout life.

We have a pack of Democrats seeking the nomination of the party so they can hoist the standard next year at the convention in Milwaukee whom at first look, might seem to be somewhat acceptable.  Unfortunately, as we dig into them and their varied backgrounds, I have the sneaking suspicion that unless someone with moxie actually enters the race, the party is looking at a defeat of historical proportions.

Currently, the candidates all seem to copycat one another, not a single one of them has any originality unless we look back at Senator Bernie Sanders who came up with the foundation of what the rest now claim as their own policies.  Free this, free that, free everything, and the world and the country will become a utopia where everyone is equal.

As a youth, like everyone else I knew growing up, we believed in liberalism.  Being liberal meant we sought freedom of speech, that we sought equality in every facet of society, and that we all strived together to end wars, empower the people, and to make life better for everyone.

As time went by, however, we realized this was all pie in the sky, a pipe dream, a mid-summer night’s fantasy, of sorts, like going to dive bars in Taft.  Everyone had to seek his or her own equality without waiting for someone from the government seeking us out and telling us they were going to ‘help’ us or were going to ‘fix’ things.

The last thing we wanted was anyone from government coming to see us.  Nope, did not want them seeking us out because it meant they would try to stick a gun in our hands and send us to Vietnam.  Fortunately for me, I was at the end of the age scale to get drafted as they liked them 17-20 years-old and I was 24-25.

Now, however, the young people are like baby birds that won’t abandon the nest.  Instead of mom and dad booting them out, forcing them to fly or fall on their own, they cling to their parents and transfer their hopes to the government to do everything for them.  When government does everything for someone, it robs them of their vitality and their desire to accomplish things for themselves.  In essence, it makes them slaves of the very ‘utopia’ they seek to create.

Bernie Sanders set all of this insanity in motion and each of the challengers who have entered the race after him all steal from him and then build upon it, calling it their ‘own.’

It is reminiscent of how white rock-and-rollers- whether Elvis, the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, or anyone else- robbed Chuck Berry and other rock-and-roll/rhythm and blues trailblazers and then made vast fortunes from the theft and reinvention of their music.  It wasn’t right but unless someone calls them out on it, they will continue doing it just as Led Zeppelin ripped off numerous black bluesmen to create their unique sound.

In harmony, all the Democrats seeking the nomination of my party say the ‘corporations will’ and that ‘the wealthy will.’  Stupendous, mis amigos, absolutely stupendous.

I am sure they understand that all the corporations returning to America, opening plants and factories, employing fellow Americans, and giving us hope again can easily abandon the country and go back to China, down to Mexico or to Central America, maybe to India, possibly to Taiwan and other foreign locales and produce the same goods for far less.

Thanks to the business acumen of President Donald Trump, far more businesses have returned to the United States than have shuttered their doors and laid people off.  We hear that there are one million MORE jobs in the country at present than there are people to fill them so why would candidates seeking the nomination of the party want to drive a stake through all the progress we are currently enjoying?  Out of spite?  Really?

The thing that pulls the rug out from under each of the present number of Democrats trying to win the nomination is that to give away everything FREE means that everyone forced to giving away everything must do it willingly which no one will.  No matter what threats one uses, no matter what force one employs, no matter how onerous Big Brother becomes, the simple economic truths still apply.

Soak the rich, the rich leave for better locales.  Go after corporations, they relocate their money back offshore in tax havens like they always do.  That leaves the middle class as the only remaining pot of wealth to rob and once robbed, in fifteen-to-twenty years, the country begins resembling Venezuela and Cuba.  We want to be like THEM?

Tomorrow, we will look at the various candidates.  One who interests me is Chinese-American businessman Andrew Yang.  He wants to give everyone- no matter their station in life- one grand a month.  Question: when we receive our grand, do we have to pay taxes on it?  No one has yet to answer to that question.

Adios, mis amigos, we will be back tomorrow for more exciting hot talk.  Hope you will join me for some coffee.  I take mine black.

As have the rest of my colleagues, local Bakersfield street artist, Simone, created these portraits of me that you will see over successive days here at the blog.  I guess Simone did ‘okay’ in capturing my likeness; I guess it could have been worse.  I was a young cook back in the early 1960’s when I commenced my culinary career.  I served underneath a Master Chef for many years before striking out on my own.  I went up the coast of the Western United States and Canada, working all the way, until I made it to Alaska.  From there, I moved to Hawaii for a couple of years (1994-1997) before I returned to Washington State and it was there that I met Stinkbug.

Occasionally, we get off-track and get albums mixed up in the rotation but so flipping what, right?  Today, we have the first best-of compilation by the Los Angeles-based rock-and-roll band, Spirit: “Best of Spirit,” which came out on August 08, 1973.  This album has the crème de la crème of the first four albums plus the big single that received a great deal of airplay back in the day, “1984.”  This album is definitely one we hope everyone will consider adding to his or her collection as it is the sound of the times, heavy-duty, smoking psychedelic jazz-rock that will blow your mind- you will love it.

Jeff Beck released an abbreviated best of collection entitled, “Best of Beck” on November 06, 1995,  an album that gives the listener a glimpse into the fabulous career that this veteran axe man has had since entering the rock world in the early 1960s.  We urge everyone who has not yet taken our advice into hearing this man and his amazing guitar mastery, this is how you do it so seek it out wherever you buy the best in rock-and-roll music- you will be glad you did.

Just the Facts: like it or not, Kim Jong Un is smart enough to know the history of United States foreign policy, both with the Native Americans and with Middle Eastern dictators to know that if he gives up his nukes he is committing a fatal mistake

This has been the flaw in American foreign policy since the days of engaging in treaties with various Native American tribes. One “Great White Father” (where did that come from- Hollywood or did the Native Americans truly refer to American presidents as such- how degrading for them) would make a ‘deal’ with a tribe or a group of tribes and then another one would go in there and defy it and the indigenous people(s) would be screwed.

“Just the Facts: like it or not, Kim Jong Un is smart enough to know the history of United States foreign policy, both with the Native Americans and with Middle Eastern dictators to know that if he gives up his nukes he is committing a fatal mistake” by Chef Elvin C. McCardle

WINTER SESSION 2019

BLOG POST #3,046 AT THE AICP-END

611 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2020

There is NO way that Kim Jong Un will ever surrender his WMDs

Ventura, CA, 03-04-2019 Monday: Wow.  Cherry had one heck of a week last week taking on her own party by trashing them on their push to end all private health insurance and to replace it with their zany idea of “Medicare for All.”  Sounds great, would not be worth a s**t, people would receive lesser care while being promised the Sun and the Moon.  If the Dems managed to do this, they would forever destroy the health care system of the United States ALL because they hate half of the nation and would rather see the country in flaming ruins than their enemies thriving, happy, and seeking to spread that happiness to everyone else.

I am sure the week will be interesting as so much is going on such as one Democrat after another announcing their run against Donald J. Trump in 2020.  I cannot wait to see all of these slobbering beach goobers debating one another.  “You’re crazy!”  “No, you’re crazy!”  “You love dictators!”  “No, you love dictators!”  It is going to be fun watching the fur fly as each one seeks to stick a dagger- imaginary OR real- into the backs of those with whom they once were friends.

Currently, President Trump is being criticized for failing to make a deal with the North Koreans while others applaud him for not doing so.  He and Kim Jong Un met with one another in Vietnam and while they smiled for the cameras, nothing much came out of it and the president left the table to Chairman Kim.

Although the fat little murderer said he was ‘willing to shut down ONE nuclear site in exchange for sanctions being lifted,’ he would not commit to a total de-nuking of his nation, something the United States demands of him.

Well, I have a different outlook:  WHY would Kim ever de-nuke his country?  Even if he believes President Trump is sincere in desiring peace and an end to the nuclear arms race in the region, another president can go the opposite direction and screw him like President Obama countered his predecessor George W. Bush and went and attacked Libya.

This, obviously, is how President Andrew Jackson set the infamous Trail of Tears in motion when he decided- against an order from the U.S. Supreme Court NOT to do what he was going to do- to deport the so-called Five Civilized Tribes west of the Mississippi to “Indian Country.”

The ‘Five Civilized Tribes’- Choctaw, Creek, Cherokee, Chickasaw, and the Seminole- conformed to ‘American ways’ to one degree or another, owning and farming land, grist mills, sawmills, and wore American-style clothing and even restructured some of their governments to resemble the one in Washington.  Sadly, that was not enough to save them.

The United States was growing and settlers coveted that valuable land in the American Southeast.  A cry was heard that “GOLD” had been discovered in tribal land (of which, there was little to none) and that was all it took for President Jackson to uproot the people he and numerous others deemed ‘savages’ and to drive them west of the Mississippi River if they did not willingly pull up stakes and head into the sunset.

From that point onward, one treaty after another was broken with the Native Americans and it has left a feeling of negativity among many tribal groups over their mistreatment.  Only in the last 50 years or so have various tribes once again adopted ‘Western’ ways by building casinos, hotels, and other visitor-friendly sites with which to enrich themselves at the expense of their former tormenters- God bless them.

Likewise, in the world of foreign affairs, the United States has a somewhat deplorable record, one that Kim Jong Un is likely extremely aware of such as agreements or treaties with various countries and then reneging on them, backtracking on them, which led to horrible ends for some of these leaders.

When the Soviet Union collapsed, President Bill Clinton sought to de-nuclearize the Ukraine, which possessed numerous nuclear warheads and the delivery systems to get them where they needed to go in case of war.  To get them to give them up, President Clinton personally pledged that the United States ‘would guarantee their security in the face of foreign aggression.’

Sadly, for the Ukraine, Russia was weak at the time as the collapse of the Soviet Union transformed them from a major military power to a crippled, demoralized nation.  The Ukrainians accepted the word of President Clinton, gave up their nukes, and twenty-plus years later, Russia has ripped the Crimea from them and gobbled up their eastern half just as Mr. Putin has relieved Georgia of 2-3 of its provinces.

Likewise, the United States had a relationship with Saddam Hussein and Iraq.  We sold him military weapons as he provided a bulwark against Iranian hegemony in the region.  Come the attacks of September 11, 2001, President George W. Bush managed to persuade the nation to invade Iraq and topple Saddam, making the region far worse than what it was.

Libya saw what happened to Saddam and agreed to surrender its WMDs to the Bush administration and lo and behold, the next president- Barack Obama- decided with his then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that he would renege on that deal and go in there and topple Moammar Gaddafi which lead to his demise in a very painful, public way.

While real estate development and entering the world of nations might have its allures to Kim Jong Un, why would he ever be willing to surrender his nukes and missiles?  The president who follows Donald J. Trump could decide to turn on him.

The only candidate in the race for the Democratic Party’s 2020 nomination who is against FOREIGN REGIME CHANGE WARS is Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard but I seriously doubt she has the mojo and the money to win the nomination as far too many people enrich themselves from the military-industrial complex.

Like it or not, there is no way that Kim Jong Un can EVER surrender his nuclear weapons so we should give the silly notion up that we can offer him enough carrots to get him to commit a fatal mistake.

See you tomorrow.
