Just the Facts: Democrats can give away everything for free until they turn blue in the face; however, the same irrefutable, simple rules of economics still apply- someone still must foot the bill

The buzzword now is FREE. The Democrats want to give us FREE healthcare, they want to give us COST-FREE education, they want to give us GUARANTEED government jobs, as well as GUARANTEED healthy food, housing, and even leisure, free, free, and still more free. Someone must pay for all this FREE stuff. Who is going to pick up the tab?

SPRING SESSION 2019

BLOG POST #3,063 AT THE AICP-END

594 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2020

The FREER everything is, the more it costs…

Shafter, CA, 03-21-2019 Thursday: Amigos, welcome, here it is, one minute after midnight and those of us in the world of professional food service are either still at work, getting up and preparing to go to work, or will soon be heading home to sleep a few restless hours before doing the whole show over again.  It is what it is, to own a business or to have a job in the United States of America is a grand and glorious thing.  Only here do we truly have the ability to carve our own way throughout life.

We have a pack of Democrats seeking the nomination of the party so they can hoist the standard next year at the convention in Milwaukee whom at first look, might seem to be somewhat acceptable.  Unfortunately, as we dig into them and their varied backgrounds, I have the sneaking suspicion that unless someone with moxie actually enters the race, the party is looking at a defeat of historical proportions.

Currently, the candidates all seem to copycat one another, not a single one of them has any originality unless we look back at Senator Bernie Sanders who came up with the foundation of what the rest now claim as their own policies.  Free this, free that, free everything, and the world and the country will become a utopia where everyone is equal.

As a youth, like everyone else I knew growing up, we believed in liberalism.  Being liberal meant we sought freedom of speech, that we sought equality in every facet of society, and that we all strived together to end wars, empower the people, and to make life better for everyone.

As time went by, however, we realized this was all pie in the sky, a pipe dream, a mid-summer night’s fantasy, of sorts, like going to dive bars in Taft.  Everyone had to seek his or her own equality without waiting for someone from the government seeking us out and telling us they were going to ‘help’ us or were going to ‘fix’ things.

The last thing we wanted was anyone from government coming to see us.  Nope, did not want them seeking us out because it meant they would try to stick a gun in our hands and send us to Vietnam.  Fortunately for me, I was at the end of the age scale to get drafted as they liked them 17-20 years-old and I was 24-25.

Now, however, the young people are like baby birds that won’t abandon the nest.  Instead of mom and dad booting them out, forcing them to fly or fall on their own, they cling to their parents and transfer their hopes to the government to do everything for them.  When government does everything for someone, it robs them of their vitality and their desire to accomplish things for themselves.  In essence, it makes them slaves of the very ‘utopia’ they seek to create.

Bernie Sanders set all of this insanity in motion and each of the challengers who have entered the race after him all steal from him and then build upon it, calling it their ‘own.’

It is reminiscent of how white rock-and-rollers- whether Elvis, the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, or anyone else- robbed Chuck Berry and other rock-and-roll/rhythm and blues trailblazers and then made vast fortunes from the theft and reinvention of their music.  It wasn’t right but unless someone calls them out on it, they will continue doing it just as Led Zeppelin ripped off numerous black bluesmen to create their unique sound.

In harmony, all the Democrats seeking the nomination of my party say the ‘corporations will’ and that ‘the wealthy will.’  Stupendous, mis amigos, absolutely stupendous.

I am sure they understand that all the corporations returning to America, opening plants and factories, employing fellow Americans, and giving us hope again can easily abandon the country and go back to China, down to Mexico or to Central America, maybe to India, possibly to Taiwan and other foreign locales and produce the same goods for far less.

Thanks to the business acumen of President Donald Trump, far more businesses have returned to the United States than have shuttered their doors and laid people off.  We hear that there are one million MORE jobs in the country at present than there are people to fill them so why would candidates seeking the nomination of the party want to drive a stake through all the progress we are currently enjoying?  Out of spite?  Really?

The thing that pulls the rug out from under each of the present number of Democrats trying to win the nomination is that to give away everything FREE means that everyone forced to giving away everything must do it willingly which no one will.  No matter what threats one uses, no matter what force one employs, no matter how onerous Big Brother becomes, the simple economic truths still apply.

Soak the rich, the rich leave for better locales.  Go after corporations, they relocate their money back offshore in tax havens like they always do.  That leaves the middle class as the only remaining pot of wealth to rob and once robbed, in fifteen-to-twenty years, the country begins resembling Venezuela and Cuba.  We want to be like THEM?

Tomorrow, we will look at the various candidates.  One who interests me is Chinese-American businessman Andrew Yang.  He wants to give everyone- no matter their station in life- one grand a month.  Question: when we receive our grand, do we have to pay taxes on it?  No one has yet to answer to that question.

Adios, mis amigos, we will be back tomorrow for more exciting hot talk.  Hope you will join me for some coffee.  I take mine black.

As have the rest of my colleagues, local Bakersfield street artist, Simone, created these portraits of me that you will see over successive days here at the blog.  I guess Simone did ‘okay’ in capturing my likeness; I guess it could have been worse.  I was a young cook back in the early 1960’s when I commenced my culinary career.  I served underneath a Master Chef for many years before striking out on my own.  I went up the coast of the Western United States and Canada, working all the way, until I made it to Alaska.  From there, I moved to Hawaii for a couple of years (1994-1997) before I returned to Washington State and it was there that I met Stinkbug.

Occasionally, we get off-track and get albums mixed up in the rotation but so flipping what, right?  Today, we have the first best-of compilation by the Los Angeles-based rock-and-roll band, Spirit: “Best of Spirit,” which came out on August 08, 1973.  This album has the crème de la crème of the first four albums plus the big single that received a great deal of airplay back in the day, “1984.”  This album is definitely one we hope everyone will consider adding to his or her collection as it is the sound of the times, heavy-duty, smoking psychedelic jazz-rock that will blow your mind- you will love it.

Jeff Beck released an abbreviated best of collection entitled, “Best of Beck” on November 06, 1995,  an album that gives the listener a glimpse into the fabulous career that this veteran axe man has had since entering the rock world in the early 1960s.  We urge everyone who has not yet taken our advice into hearing this man and his amazing guitar mastery, this is how you do it so seek it out wherever you buy the best in rock-and-roll music- you will be glad you did.

Just the Facts: separate truth from fiction as NO ONE gets something for nothing, not FREE cradle-to-grave health care, not FREE education, and certainly not FORGIVENESS of debt without something extremely valuable in return- like liberty

After Donald Trump became president, the producers of “Madam Secretary” had a season in which the TV show’s president had to be temporarily removed via the 25th Amendment because he became erratic and wanted to go to war with Russia and with other countries all because he had a tumor in his brain.   This was enough to cause my wife and I to stop watching the farce.

WINTER SESSION 2019

BLOG POST #3,031 AT THE AICP-END

626 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2020

The American people must learn to distinguish the left’s fairy tales from the right’s reality; no one gets something for nothing

Weedpatch, CA, 02-17-2019 Sunday:  One of the big give-away items in the Green New Deal is always the same as in the spiel to get people to accept the renunciation of their liberties because what the communist-environmentalists are going to give them in exchange will more than make up for their loss.  They always tell the gullible (just like the shyster musical instrument salesman in “The Music Man,” that they are going to get SOMETHING in exchange for ‘almost nothing.’

The two things the leftists always push is FREE HEALTH CARE from cradle to grave and FREE EDUCATION, from kindergarten (or pre-kindergarten) all the way through college and possibly into graduate school.  The reality-challenged always soak it up and light bulbs never seem to explode into light above their heads telling them SOMEONE or SOMETHING is going to have to fund these vacuous promises.  Who or what will fund them or will something greater be demanded of the recipients?

When it comes to FREE HEALTH CARE, we have Hillary Clinton’s model from the 1990s to guide us- Hillary Care.  One of the linchpins in her plan was that in exchange for help with the costs of a medical education, the recipients of government largesse would be told what disciplines they could practice, where they could practice them, and for how long they had to remain where the government sent them.

At the time, not enough Americans had drunk long and deep from the poisoned well of the Kool-Aid Man, NO one wanted to see their private health care plans vanish nor did they want to have a top-down, bureaucratic system of health care (think Veterans Administration) forced atop them.

Fifteen years (or so) later, there were enough angry leftists who demanded FREE health care that they supported Barack Obama and the Democrats’ push for Obamacare, aka the Affordable Care Act, which now is a smoking ruin.

Now, President Obama and the people around him told the American people that if ‘you liked your health care plan, you could keep it just as if you liked your doctors, you could keep them, too, (yuck-yuck).’  Only, when Obamacare went into action following the 2012 Election and Obama’s reelection, the truth became apparent.

Millions of Americans- if they were able to navigate through the federal government website that imploded almost at first use and sign up for a plan- found out that the plans they loved and the physicians they revered were nowhere to be found.

The same thing is true of the promises of free education and forgiveness of college debt.  To suck the gullible in, something of value must be offered in exchange, just like when one visits the Kern County Fair and engages in midway games for prizes.

To get dad to shoot at moving targets, toss rubber balls at a series of rings, or to guess under which, cup the nonexistent bean lies, in order to win that massive stuffed animal the grandkids want, one must see the prizes hanging on the wall, hear the child’s pleas, and to listen to the spin the carnival worker jabbers.

Shoot at those moving targets, toss balls to fall into those concentric rings, guess after guess where that elusive bean rests and one racks up losses because NOTHING is ever as easy as it seems.  The same is true of the promise of FREE education and of debt forgiveness.

First, what college or university professor is going to agree to work for a lesser wage than the hefty salaries they now make?  I venture, NONE nor will they surrender benefits, it just is not going to happen just as doctors will not remain in a system where they make a low hourly wage as opposed to charting their own course through life and going after as much wealth as they can make?  Not possible.

Young people watch television shows and movies with religiosity, they believe in “Game of Thrones,” in “Homeland,” and in “New Amsterdam.”  This last show depicts a magical medical situation in which the protagonist Dr. Max finds all manner of new and innovative ways to give people- citizen and noncitizen alike- top-notch quality health care most of them cannot afford.

The youngsters believe the shows mimic reality when in truth, they mimic fiction, drawn from a writer’s mind.  They do the same with “Madam Secretary,” a show that back when it first came out did its best to make people think of “Madam Secretary” as Hillary Clinton.  It tried to put a good spin on a failed secretary of state by making the TV character look superior to everyone else- including the president in the show.

The idea that the TV show producers ran this story line tells us where their heads were at which was not in a good place.  They, like numerous others in left-wing Hollywood, show business, and entertainment all were appalled by the fact that Donald Trump was president and worse, that he was doing things that their guy- Barack Hussein Obama- never could because he was so inept.

Now, the Democrats are back at promising the moon if the American people will just sign on with them and vote one of them into office in 2020.  We have Creepy Cory Booker, aka Popeye or Spartacus, Krazy Kamala “I did inhale” Harris, Elizabeth “Pocahontas” Warren, Amy “Bi**h” Klobuchar, Tulsi “Russian agent” Gabbard, Kirsten “Albino” Gillibrand, and other losers who all want us to give up everything in exchange for reverting to caveman times via their “Green New Deal.”

I would urge all conscientious and patriotic Americans to watch what their kids learn in school.  If you are going to spend big bucks to send them to bastions of higher learning, send them someplace where they will learn to revere the Constitution and the founding of the nation like Hillsdale College.

I would also restrict what television shows they watch.  Enough with “Madam Secretary,” enough with “New Amsterdam,” enough with shows that preach politics albeit in a submerged form which the young people seem to be unable to distinguish from fiction.

The Green New Deal is the portal to communism.  For everything given free, ten or one-hundred things are required in exchange.  What they want is for us to live like citizens of the Soviet Union or of Communist China, not of a First World economic powerhouse while our leaders reside at the top with nothing but the best in health care, living standards, vacation homes, and travel accommodations.

I guess what I am saying is to learn to separate the bulls**t from the truth, learn to see reality and not fairy tales.  Everyone will do so much better and our nation will survive this ugly attempt at overthrowing the existing order with a failed one.  See you in the summer.

My colleagues and I no longer share old photos of us, as the price of success means that lunatics and nuts come looking for one.  Therefore, we hired local up-and-coming Bakersfield-Oildale, California street artist, Simone, to create facsimiles of us so we can remain somewhat obscure. Ah, well, I began my culinary career in 1969 bussing tables at age 12 and became a cook’s apprentice in 1973 at age 17. I have worked all over California, Hawaii, Washington State, and even a brief time in Arizona.
