ALBUM OF THE DAY AT THE AICPENDBLOG.COM:

The next studio album by Jethro Tull- “Too Old to Rock-and-Roll: Too Young to Die,” came out on April 23, 1976.  Once again, the band was floundering about as it sought to find its direction and this album was about an aging rock star faced with living the remaining of his life out of the limelight.  Ah, well, Ian Anderson always has lofty ideas but sometimes they come across in a cloudy way.  Still, this is a fine album and features a somewhat altered lineup of Ian Anderson (vocals, flutes, guitars, keyboards), Martin Barre (guitars), John Glascock (bass), John Evan (keyboards), and Barriemore Barlow (drums).  We encourage everyone to visit a local music store and give it a good listen.  In the old days, we could go to record stores and could listen to an entire album in a listening booth to see if we wanted to buy it or we didn’t.  We believe that that is something that should be brought back for all fans as it would make it easier to know if something was right for our musical tastes or it was not.  Check it out.

ENDNOTES:

[i] Not sure when we will get around to doing the music of Three Dog Night but if we ever return to promoting the music of famed rock bands from the 1960s and the 1970s, we sure as heck will include this stellar band, one that is still performing to this day.  We saw them in 2019 and all we can say is “Wow.”

[ii] When we promoted the music of the Steve Miller Band, we screwed up by not promoting the music of Boz Scaggs at the same time.  We look forward to doing it soon.

[iii] We began promoting the music of the Steve Miller Band beginning on Wednesday, 27-July-2011 through Wednesday, 24-August-2011 and then did a second stint on Sunday, 20-April-2014.  We hope you will check the music of this amazing San Francisco, California, acid-rock blues band.

[iv] We presented the music of this British prog-rock band, the amazing King Crimson, beginning on Monday, 20-October-2014 through Sunday, 21-December-2014.  We hope you will check them out and add them to your collection.

[v] We shared the music of the Stones beginning Tuesday, 22-March-2016 through Sunday, 28-August-2016.  This included the members’ solo projects.  We sure as heck hope you check out the Rolling Stones, Mick Jagger, Brian Jones, Keith Richard, Charlie Watts, Bill Wyman, and Mick Taylor.  Ronnie Wood you can find during the presentation of the Faces.

[vi] We celebrated the music of the amazing Little Feat beginning on Tuesday, 11-June-2013 through Monday, 15-July-2013.  One of the great unsung bands of all time, we hope you will seek them out and consider adding them to your music collection.

[vii] When we present the music of the Allman Brothers Band, we will present the music of Gov’t Mule.  Stay tuned for further developments.

[viii] James Comey is a worthless POS and one of the main coup plotters against President Donald J. Trump.  We hope he will soon be breaking rocks at Leavenworth Federal Penitentiary for his role in the attempted coup.

[ix] We first began offering the music of Fleetwood Mac on Monday, 03-January-2011 through Thursday, 27-January-2011.  Please seek their music out by checking posts on those corresponding dates.  Seeing as how Fleetwood Mac was among the earliest bands we ever promoted, we will have to pick them back up and present not only the music of the band that has come out since then but also the individual member’s solo projects.

ALBUM OF THE DAY AT THE AICPENDBLOG.COM:

Following the bust-up of Apple Records and Badfinger being thrown to the winds, their record company compiled 17 key tracks from the post Apple albums on “The Best of Badfinger Volume 2” (January 21, 1990).  You get a key selection of illuminating tracks that demonstrate the potential this star-crossed band possessed so it makes one wonder as to what might have happened had they NOT signed with Apple and found another company willing to market their potential instead of milking them for everything they had like a damp sponge.  We hope you will seek this album out, give it a good listen, and then make it a part of your listening day.  We think you will be glad you took the time to give it a thorough listening.  Enjoy.

ALBUM OF THE DAY AT THE AICPENDBLOG.COM:

#PF001.2x Live in Pompeii #50 05-28-2020 (400)

Pink Floyd-released a live album from back in the early Seventies, “Live at Pompeii 1972,” on September 02, 2014. Prior to this, the only live album by the post-Syd Barrett Floyd was “Ummagumma” with its one disc of a live show. This is an impressive set, featuring tunes previously found on “Ummagumma” as well as others that weren’t. This is pre-“Dark Side of the Moon” and it offers a glimpse into an exciting time when psychedelic, aka acid rock, still existed and another into the greatest British group of the art. We hope you will seek this one out wherever you shop for the absolute best in rock music and add it to your collection. You will indeed enjoy it.

Perhaps when the GOP controls both houses of Congress in January 2021?

ALBUM OF THE DAY AT THE AICPENDBLOG.COM:

#PF001.1x About Face #24 05-04-2020 (400)

David Gilmour released his second album, now a confirmed solo artist with the breakup of Pink Floyd complete. “About Face” came out on March 05, 1984, and it featured the artist with much more radio-friendly cuts deserving of being heard by you. Joining the legendary guitarist were some session powerhouse musicians such as Jeff Porcaro (drums/percussion), Pino Palladino (bass), Ian Kewley (keyboards), as well as Steve Winwood, Jon Lord, Roy Harper, Pete Townsend, Ray Cooper, and others. This album sold well and put the guitarist/vocalist on the solo artists map which is why we encourage everyone to rush out and consider adding it to their growing collection. We believe you will love it as much as we do so what are you awaiting? A sign from the heavens? Take it from us and get it ASAP. Thank you.

Just the Facts: whereas Obama sought to entangle the USA in copious international treaties in which, we were one among many, Trump stands for the good of our country above all others

The thing that seems to be giving the faltering speaker fits is that there are far too many socialists seeking to win the nomination of the Democratic Party, something that if it does happen, will doom their party’s electoral chances for elections to come. No one wants someone like Bernie Sanders becoming our president because no one wants to see our country go down the crap hole and out to sea as that is precisely what will happen if he somehow does.

SPRING SESSION 2019

BLOG POST #3,116 AT THE AICP-END

541 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2020

No matter what YOU might think of President Trump, he stands for ALL Americans and not for just a few…

Kula, HI, 05-13-2019 Monday:  Aloha, here I am, a rarity in the world of politics, a Republican from Hawaii.  Still, there is much agitation going on in the Islands, people are growing appalled at the behavior of Senator Mazie Hirono, that woman, not only is she as foul-smelling as a bowl of week-old poi, she is an embarrassment to the voters.  She rails and rants to the point that whenever she comes on TV, bar flies request we lower the volume on the TV so they don’t start puking up their drinks and their pricey pupus.

How we became a ‘Democratic state’ is beyond me but the changes began in 1992 when Bill Clinton beat George H.W. Bush.  Yes, we still had a GOP governor in Linda Lingle but ever so slowly the Dems began creeping into every facet of society as cancer does one’s struggling bowels.  We are hoping we might be able to throw off this oppressive yoke but I guess we shall see come November 2020.

Watching the Democrats from afar is nothing like watching them close up.  My family and I came to Oildale, California, this week because when I finish doing my posts as well as soaking up the Country and Western flavor, we are heading on to Las Vegas to have a wonderful vacation.  We are so lucky to be staying at the Trump International Hotel Las Vegas that we cannot anticipate a more exciting and perhaps profitable vacation than doing the town with that as our base of operations.

Back to politics, it seems to me that Speaker Nancy Pelosi is working double-time to LOSE the 2020 Election.  Granted, this is difficult for many average Americans to comprehend because everyone thinks that to the Democrats, Trump is a googly-eyed sea monster, one they must find a way to vote out of office or to turn into a hefty slab of orange, high-priced, blowfish-like sashimi.

What we have going for us is, however, a strong economy, although the trade war with China is leaving much to be determined.  Whether we want to deal with China now or at a later date, I don’t think we have a choice as the world’s most populous nation has been taking advantage of one American president after another in its slow crawl to become the dominant global power by 2050.

We get it, we get many of our goods from China but like China’s goal to become self-sufficient, so should we as a nation return to being self-sufficient ourselves.  The way to do this is by making our country as friendly to business as we possibly can but with the ever-present threat of Democratic-Socialists taking power, who in their right mind would want to return their businesses here?

President Trump is correct when he points out that China has done everything possible since entering the World Trade Organization to accumulate power and prestige around the globe while the United States has done everything in its power to cede the power and prestige that we, as a nation, once possessed and more importantly projected.

It is as if our leaders felt guilty of the nation they inherited, the one that came out of World War II, a smoking industrial power with the strongest military and economy the world has ever seen.  It was as if they felt obligated to subvert our power by empowering other nations to pass us, to supersede us, which is not good for our country.

This is why millions of Americans support President Donald J. Trump and will continue supporting him because even though he can be a bit bombastic at times, we need someone on the side of the United States and not on those of all the other countries around the globe.

That was, after all, what President Obama did, he sought to entangle the United States in international treaties and agreements in which, the USA was but one of a bevy of countries, all equal to one another.  This was not good for our national interests although I think Mr. Obama felt that the more entangled the country with others, the less likely we would blow one another off the face of the planet.

I understand that many quivering liberals fear that the more robust the president is in defense of the country the people elected him to lead, the more they fear a confederacy of nations inimical to our interests will coalesce around China, Russia, Iran and North Korea.

While this is always a possibility, I think that even in our militarily depleted state, our enemies and competitors will still be fearful of attacking us.  None of them will ever know for sure just how strong our defenses are so it is my hope that all provocations will remain just that, attempts to feel us out without truly going to war with us.

Friends, we are going to have a wonderful week as it is always fun to come to Oildale before heading on to Primm and then Vegas.  The one thing we did not prepare for was the chilly, wet weather that has greeted us.  Normally, at this time, it is already in the nineties and low one-hundreds, temperature-wise.  It is in the sixties.  Global cooling, anyone?

See you tomorrow.  Aloha.

FEATURED ALBUM OF THE DAY:

Mike Rutherford decided in between hiatuses of his main band, Genesis, that he would form what would become a powerhouse solo group, Mike + the Mechanics.  Their first album, “Mike + the Mechanics,” came out on October 05, 1985.  The lineup featured Mike Rutherford (guitars/basses), Paul Carrack and Paul Young (vocals), Adrian Lee (keyboards), Pete Van Hooke (drums) along with additional supporting musicians.  The debut album spawned three chart-topping singles: “Silent Running (on Dangerous Ground),” “All I Need is a Miracle,” and “Taken In.”  This is an album everyone should seek out and add to their collection as it is a worthy effort.  We know you will enjoy it.

Once again, the James Gang was in the process of undergoing changes.  Roy Kenner and Tommy Bolin were gone so the rhythm section of Jim Fox and Dales Peters had to go out and recruit some new members, which they did, what they always had to do.  A gentleman named Bubba Keith took over on vocals and guitars, Richard Shack provided backing vocals and guitars, and David Briggs added keyboards.  The album once again presented an evolving sound which for long-time fans is not out of the ordinary and for newcomers opened new doors to a veteran rock outfit.  The resulting effort, “Newborn,” came out on May 05, 1975 and demonstrated that the James Gang could still rock- we always knew they could and would.  Please, seek it out at your favorite musical haunt- you will enjoy it.

Rod Stewart released his first Christmas album, “Merry Christmas Baby,” on October 30, 2012.  Joined by a superb cast of musicians, the legendary rocker blasts through 13 classic Christmas tunes.  Sooner or later, every old rocker or band decides to delve into the Christmas catalog in order to (1) put out product and (2) show they have the Christmas spirit, too.  Some like the Beatles and the Beach Boys began doing it earlier in their careers while others like Canned Heat and now Rod did it later.  Whatever, this is an interesting album to add to your collection so please, add it now and have it in time for the holidays.  Your folks will love it.
