Here are the global stats for today: 6,855,858 confirmed cases, 398,321 confirmed deaths, and 3,071,403 confirmed recoveries the last number of which, compared to deaths, is exceptionally good.

  54. 2020 Saturday: The Chinese Bat Flu continues causing problems around the world but such is communism: they either released it on purpose or are so inept that no other country around the world should trust them to do anything above fifth-grade level science.  Here are the global stats for today: 6,855,858 confirmed cases, 398,321 confirmed deaths, and 3,071,403 confirmed recoveries the last number of which, compared to deaths, is exceptionally good.
  55. 2020 Saturday A: Here are the stats for the United States, where communist Beijing sent it to do the most damage: 1,959,009 confirmed cases, 111,374 confirmed deaths, and 457,721 confirmed recoveries.  Next, in the three states- California, Hawaii, and Washington- where the American Institute of Culinary Politics-The Elemental News of the Day has chef-authors, here is California first: 126,016 confirmed cases, 4,559 confirmed deaths, and as usual, NO mention of confirmed recoveries.   Next, in the Aloha State where Gov. David Ige- unlike California’s Gov. Gavin “The Smiler” Newsom and Washington’s Gov. Jay Inslee reports FULL figures.  Here we go: 664 confirmed cases, 17 confirmed deaths, and 614 confirmed recoveries.   Finally, in the Evergreen (Ever Communist) State, here are the stats: 23,442 confirmed cases, 1,153 confirmed deaths, BUT NO MENTION of confirmed recoveries.
  56. 2020 Saturday B: For a laugh, let’s look at the numbers communist China recently posted: 83,036 confirmed cases, 4,634 confirmed deaths, and 78,332 confirmed recoveries.  However, our sources in Hong Kong tell us the following numbers: at least 2,890,000 confirmed cases, 1,460,000 confirmed deaths, and about 1,430,000 confirmed recoveries.  Not sure whether our sources are 100-percent reliable but if so, it demonstrates once again that communists always lie.
  57. 2021 Sunday: How many cases of the Xi Jinping Bat Flu will see one year from last year?  The numbers last year were something else, this year, going to be far higher…when will the Chi-Coms REIMBURSE THE WORLD INSTEAD OF THREATENING NUCLEAR WAR?  We should have nuked them in 1950…

ALBUM OF THE DAY AT THE AICPENDBLOG.COM:

Having disbanded Wild Turkey for the immediate future, Glenn Cornick (bass, keyboards, harmonics, and vocals) joined forces with former Fleetwood Mac member Bob Welch (guitars, vocals, and keyboards) and Thom Mooney (drums and percussion), late from Todd Rundgren’s band.   As talented as these musicians are, this was not their finest work and left much to be desired.  Their sophomore effort would be delightful but the band would then break up.  Still, “Paris” by Paris- the name of their new band- came out on January 04, 1976 and is an important introduction as to what was to come.  Seek it out, give it a good listen, and add it to your growing album collection- you will be glad you did.

Open Letter to Gavin Newsom from a lifelong Democrat voter: Trump’s out so take the COVID-19 boot off our necks and allow us to reopen our businesses before it’s impossible to recover

I do not think it’s that much to ask, Mr. Governor. I mean, we thought Speaker Pelosi was going to shove through a COVID-19 relief bill that was going to help us but it now appears that politics got in the way. Trump is out, Trump is gone, so can we please return to a normal life?

FALL SESSION 2020

BLOG POST #3,683 AT THE AICP-END

ELECTION DAY 2020 PLUS TWENTY-SEVEN

In California, we are at the point of NO return- what comes NEXT is up to YOU, Governor Newsom; what are you going to do for us, your voter base?

Arvin, CA 93203, 11-30-2020 Monday: Well, here we are again, my friends.  Six months ago, I was writing about the skepticism I had towards using the Beijing Bat Virus as a means of crashing the economy in the hope it would defeat Donald Trump in November was not the path I would have chosen to follow if I were in the Democratic Party’s upper echelons.  I was proven right.  Yes, we may have pushed one of the all-time worst candidates across the finish line but at what expense?  At what price?  Our restaurant is suffering as are tens of thousands of others and we most likely will have to put it up for sale because there seems to be no end to the lockdowns and restrictions here in California.  Governor Gavin Newsom, I am a frigging Democrat, have always voted Democrat, and you, sir, are killing my family’s business.  What the f**k?  What the hell is wrong with you?

Granted, Kern County is not quite as insane as that dumb ass running Los Angeles but even so, we’re in the purple, we can only do takeout even though everywhere else, people can flock to BIG BOX stores, grocery stores, pot shops, and liquor stores so why is sitting down and enjoying a meal with friends, family, co-workers, and even strangers sitting alongside one another at the lunch counter a problem with a space in between one another?  You don’t seem to have a problem going out and dining yourself, there, Mr. Governor.

I get it, my family business is nowhere near the status of the French Laundry[i] in Yountville, California, or any other place in the Napa Valley for that matter, but why is it okay for you, your family, and your friends to go out, sit indoors, and talk for hours, your big mouths flapping to the point that other fortunate diners became irritated with you, called the press, and turned you in, you’re a hypocrite.  Why are we unable to open the doors and fill our restaurant, especially in the holiday season which runs from mid-November until New Year’s Day.  WHY?

Dear Governor Gavin Newsom: we know that when the Bat Flu first arrived here in the United States, it was bad, it infected people with vulnerabilities as well as medical professionals treating them.  This always seems to be the case when a new disease presents itself which everyone in a position of power told us ‘two weeks to slow it down would be like kryptonite for the spread of this novel disease.’

Somehow the two weeks became a month and then became months of lockdowns and restrictions and restaurants like ours could soon be on the auction block because we cannot keep our staff employed, we cannot pay for our supplies only to have them go to waste, not to mention taxes that Sacramento never seems to consider setting aside.  Perhaps if Sacramento gave us six months of no taxes and no subsequent demand that we pay them at some future date, perhaps we could keep the doors open on one-quarter occupancy but until then, nope, we are going to go bankrupt.

Therefore, Mr. Governor, we got the chosen candidate into the White House so can you please remove the boot atop our necks?  People have changed their lives in ways that at one time would have been unheard of, undreamed of, so if we are going through these changes, if we are toeing the line, if we are doing everything you demand of us, can you relieve the pressure upon us?  It’s not that much to ask of a Democratic  governor in a Democratic state with a Democratic legislature, can you relieve the flipping pressure from us?

I do not think it’s that much to ask, Mr. Governor.  I mean, we thought Speaker Pelosi was going to shove through a COVID-19 relief bill that was going to help us but it now appears that politics got in the way.  Trump is out, Trump is gone, so can we please return to a normal life?

If you don’t allow us to proceed with our lives, then you are going to bear full responsibility for what comes next and 2022 is not that far away.  It’s not that far away.  Don’t make my family and me have no choice left to us other than to sign the recall petition that has your name on it, Governor Newsom, because we are getting close to scrawling our signatures, along with those of our employees, on them.  Everyone is willing and ready to go.  What say you?

Going to be a fascinating week, folks, I have more time on my hands than I have ever had thanks to Governor Newsom and I look forward to putting it to productive use.

See you tomorrow.

This is a facsimile of me as a young chef back in the 1960’s when I was working as a sous chef at a fine dining restaurant, the Victor Hugo, over on the coast around Newport, California.  I began my career working as a pot washer at the age of 10, move to washing dishes in 1958, became a chef’s apprentice in 1961 and have been a career professional ever since.  I am still involved in professional foodservice as a consultant for food and beverage professionals.  Famed Bakersfield street artist Simone created the cartoonish figure of me, which appears to be ‘me’ but I hope I look better than how he portrayed me.  You are the judge.

[i] My family and I have eaten at the French Laundry as we have at other famed restaurants up and down the Napa Highway, and especially in Calistoga.  Calistoga is one of those glorious places where restaurants lie side by side, menus change every day and the food amazing.  As a member of the Chefs De Cuisine, you know, the American Culinary Federation, we revere foodservice but it should be fair for everyone, from the local Der Weiner schnitzel to Alioto’s on Fishermen’s Wharf to Arvin and Grapevine, California.  No, people of every political party in California HATE Gavin Newsom and we are going to get him out of office unless he comes around and quick- especially now that a vaccine is on its way.

The longer Gavin Newsom continues the authoritarian lockdown, the closer we approach insolvency; however, unless the Beijing Bat Flu claims our lives, we won’t forget who devastated our professional and personal lives

Likewise, the politicians should not receive paychecks, federal employees- other than the military, federal law enforcement, various other departments concerned with health, education, and the like- should not receive checks for doing nothing either. This is what has so many of us incensed. Drive by any school and you will see cafeteria workers and custodians out front at meal times handing out FREE breakfasts and lunches to any student who shows up for pickup . Additionally, the teachers arrive on site and sit in empty classrooms all day so they can pick up their paychecks.

BLOG POST #3,546 AT THE AICP-END

114 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2020

Whether you aren’t up for re-election until 2021, 2022, 2024, or beyond, we won’t forget who has driven us out of business…we will come for you every election cycle…

Valencia, CA 91354, 07-16-2020 Thursday: Currently, there is a big SNAFU over whether the American people should send their kids back to school in the fall or keep them home in a protective cocoon all because a Chinese virus is running amok across the country.  At age 81, worrying about kids returning to school is something my wife, Sarah, and I have the luxury of not having to worry ourselves about so it does not directly affect us.  However, we do have grandchildren together as well as some from my other kids with my first three wives.  We do provide care to some of them, especially to ours together, Cyprian and Kosma, and with business being trashed due to the Chinese Bat Flu[i], we spend more time with them than ever and hope they will soon be able to return to school.

Sarah and I do believe that the more we find ourselves threatened with targeted shutdowns such as what Governor Gavin Newsom is doing to the foodservice industry (which includes bars, both freestanding or connected to restaurants and various concessions such as county fairs and movie theaters and other entertainment venues), the more we believe all of it to be extremely personal, as though we are easily discarded whereas favored businesses and industries are not.

My colleagues at the AICPENDBLOG.COM have pointed out that the difference between being in the black and being in the red in the world of professional foodservice is almost the width of a single sheet of paper.  If you cannot fathom that, let me say this: the difference between being OPEN and permanently CLOSED due to a poor month, a modest season, or a horrible year is slim, very slim.  The longer the shutdowns continue, the worse it is going to be for foodservice professionals such as my wife and me.

Granted, at my age, I can afford to sell our business but my wife is 45 years-old (she’s a trophy wife, just kidding, my concerned about sexism friends), and long after I am gone, she and my other kids who are involved in our business will have to continue on- if, they can continue on.

What I am saying is that if we do not return to being open seven days a week and throughout most of the day and soon, we can bid ‘adios’ to our longtime employees, we can kiss our business goodbye, a business begun by my parents, because there is no way we can continue running it given the financial doldrums in which, we now find it and our bank accounts.

Yet, the teachers’ unions whine and moan that they cannot possibly return to teaching school because of all the dangers associated with the Wuhan Virus Crisis.  To this, I say, “BULLS**T, of course you can.  If you want to continue being paid, then get your worthless butts back to work because if my family and I can go without income coming in, then so should you.  NO one should be getting paid- other than unemployment insurance- because it is unfair.”[ii]

Likewise, the politicians should not receive paychecks, federal employees- other than the military, federal law enforcement, various other departments concerned with health, education, and the like- should not receive checks for doing nothing either.  This is what has so many of us incensed.  Drive by any school and you will see cafeteria workers and custodians out front at meal times handing out FREE breakfasts and lunches to any student who shows up for pickup[iii].  Additionally, the teachers arrive on site and sit in empty classrooms all day so they can pick up their paychecks.

Most Americans are willing to endure whatever we must to keep our nation safe.  However, when union workers and politicians and government hires all receive their checks for doing nothing while the rest of us are teetering on the edge of business closures and liquidation, you can see why we are as infuriated as we are.  All the clampdowns seem to be personal, directed at one segment of the population while the BIG BOX stores, grocery stores, liquor stores and pot shops are open for business, around the clock.

None of us knows what the ultimate outcome of all this shutdown and stay-at-home orders is going to bring.  But I am telling you, if we are not dead and in the cold hard ground from COVID-19 or from an overdose, a suicide, or some other negative outcome, we will remember come Election Day.  If you aren’t up until 2021, 2022, 2024[iv], or beyond, as long as we continue drawing breath and no matter how impoverished we are, we won’t forget who has done this to us.  We will get you out of office.

Join me here tomorrow and we will continue.

Thanks to local Oildale, California, street artist, Simone, what you see here is his representation of me.  No longer do we share photos- even old ones- as there are too many crazy f**ks out there who will picket our restaurants, follow us home, and cause trouble.  Therefore- we write with aliases and share facsimiles now because when you own businesses as we do, it does not make a great deal of sense to share too much information lest people boycott our businesses or worse, attack our families and us.  I always loved to cook and apprenticed as a young man which is what most of have done who write for the American Institute of Culinary Politics-Elemental News of the Day.  We share a love for the culinary world and do our best to share that love with you as well as our politics, which cover all bases.  I hope you enjoy it.  Chef B. FOOTNOTES:

[i] While no one is dismissing the Chinese Virus as not being dangerous, it is clear that BLUE STATES and BLUE CITIES are using it as their excuse to destroy the economic wellbeing of the country in the crazy hope that it will somehow get Donald Trump out of office in November.  I am telling you, if my family’s business goes down, we know who bears total responsibility and it’s not President Donald J. Trump but Democrats and some RINOS.  We will make them pay a heavy price at election time.

[ii] How is it even remotely fair that government employees and elected officials receive paychecks when workers in the private sector are struggling to get by?  It makes no sense.  IF teachers want the classrooms thinned down so everyone can observe social distancing, how about cooperating with ICE, pointing out every illegal alien brat in the classroom, getting out of the way so the ICE agents can remove all of them?  In California, that would thin every classroom by 50-percent.  Imagine how well out students would learn then?

[iii] Most of the kids in line to pickup their breakfast and then their lunches are all illegal aliens, the very same illegal aliens who empty every foodbank that hungry Americans seek sustenance at?  What kind of insane bullshit is this?  I say, “DEPORT THEM ALL AND CONTINUE BUILDING THE WALL!”  Oh, this is me, writing a $2,000 check to the Trump campaign.

[iv] I suspect most blue state governors and mayors think they are safe because most of them do not come up for re-election until 2022.  Gov. Gavin Newsom thinks he can squeak by under the covers because he does not have to worry about losing his seat.  Everyone knows that in every nation, when things flip from one party to the other, there are reasons driving the change.  I think we are on the precipice of destroying the Democratic Party as a political entity for at least 50 years.  God, I pray for this outcome every single night, no wonder the Democrats hate God as much as they do.  He is coming for them.

As someone who lives and owns a business in the Southland, I can tell you NO one has a Trump sign posted in his or her window, in their front yard, or on their car, NO ONE. Who wants to invite the sort of physical violence and mayhem we have seen the past four years upon themselves or their family?

SUMMER SESSION 2020

BLOG POST #3,524 AT THE AICP-END

135 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2020

Let the left crow about the Tulsa rally’s numbers, it means NOTHING…

Century City, CA 90067, 06-24-2020 Wednesday:  One thing to which, I have been paying attention to lately is the fact that the left lacks a sense of humor, hence WHY candidate and now President Donald J. Trump finds himself in ‘trouble,’ under fire, or the frequent object of scorn, derision, hate speech, and ridicule.  When I began my exodus from the left to the center (or slightly right of center), I began to regain my long-absent sense of humor, something I had no clue I had lost, yet I did lose, for decades or so it seems.

President Trump held his rally Saturday night in Tulsa, Oklahoma, one that millions of Americans live-streamed or watched on Fox News[i].  There is NO other politician like Donald Trump, one that can drive hundreds of thousands of people to snap up tickets when they are offered to the public.  Sam and I sat at home, watched the entire rally from start to finish and even though there were loads of empty seats in the nosebleed section, so what?  People were either intimidated by the Chinese Bat Flu[ii] or by the Marxist thugs roaming the streets outside the arena.

The fact that possibly 10 million Americans gave the rally two or more hours on a Saturday night tells you that the enthusiasm for the 45th president is alive and well, if not snowballing down a 10,000-foot peak with momentum behind it.  I would warn the left (why should I?) that to dismiss it or to screw with ticket sales (or however they did it) so the crowds are not as big as they normally are is to make the same mistakes they made four years ago.

As someone who lives and owns a business in the Southland, I can tell you NO one has a Trump sign posted in his or her window, in their front yard, or on their car, NO ONE.  Who wants to invite the sort of physical violence and mayhem we have seen the past four years upon themselves or their family?

I would tell you, I would rather post a BLM sign on my front window, smile, and wave at protesters as they file past[iii], and then silently commit myself to getting to the polls early on November 03, 2020 and voting a straight GOP ticket.  This is where my voice and tens of millions of other people like me will make our voices heard.   Election Day.  With our votes.  This is how we will ‘speak’ to the nation and to the world.[iv]

Even when we go up I-5 to Bakersfield, a strong RED area in the state, we don’t see Trump signs, even in Oildale.  NO one wants to invite the bull crap that comes with doing something as ‘provocative’ as supporting a presidential candidate as no one wants their tires slashed, their car body’s paint job keyed, or their windshield or side and back windows bashed in, no one.  I suspect one’s auto insurer would ask their client first, IF they did anything to ‘invite’ the vandalism of their vehicle or their home?

I would imagine that if I told my auto insurance company that my vehicle was trashed, they would ask me, “Chef, did you by any chance have a Trump sign or bumper sticker on your car?  If so, then you should have known that as a suicide negates a life insurance policy so, too, a Trump bumper sticker or anything else expressing support for the 45th president on or near your vehicle will negate your policy.”  Wow.

I wouldn’t be surprised.  This is the world in which, we now live and I can tell you that even 20 years ago, this would not be the case whereas now, it most certainly is or soon will be.  This smacks of where I grew up, when I grew up, and how I grew up, a time and place where one could utter nothing that might shine a light on one’s politics.  To do so might invite a beating or it could invite death.  It was what it was.  It now seems to be what it is.

Friends, I cannot blame people for shying away from attending the Trump rally, especially with the gauntlet through which, they would have to pass, both to and from, as I am sure there were Antifa watchers monitoring cars and I bet quite a few of them suffered significant damage if not total destruction.

Unfortunately, this is the day and age in which, we live and NO one wants to experience firsthand anything we have seen on our television screens where people are being savagely beaten, kicked in the head when down, and pummeled with cinderblocks.  No one wants to experience this.

Let’s re-elect Trump first and THEN deal with this Antifa and BLM fecal matter.  There will be plenty of time in which to do it.  First things first: re-elect Trump.  Prepare to fight and when our spark ignites, there we will be.  I have some ideas as to how we can fight[v].

FOOTNOTES:

[i] Fox News Channel’s Bret Baier said the numbers for the channel’s presentation of the Trump rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, were between 7.75-8 million which is a humongous number.  There is no way Joe Biden can ever generate the kind of enthusiasm that exists for President Donald J. Trump.  The left truly needs to assess what it believes as otherwise, the Dems will be in for yet another electoral surprise this November.

[ii] Sadly, modern day social justice warriors tell us that to refer to the Chinese flu as the ‘Chinese flu’ or to label it the “Kung Flu” or the Xi Jinping Bat Virus is somehow RACIST.  I say, “BULLSHIT!”  There is nothing wrong with a little bit of humor in this day and age of a deadly bat virus reaping havoc across the world.  Nothing. Again, find a sense of humor.

[iii] Wave at them as they file past with my hand firmly gripped on my handgun in my pocket.  Not putting up with any violence like what they saw over in Santa Monica.  WTF were the cops?

[iv] Although I could be wrong, I suspect the drubbing coming the way of the Democrats is going to be far more devastating to them than was Hillary Clinton’s loss back in 2016 and remember: she was a SURE thing.  Look at how that worked out for them.

[v] Mostly is that once the election ends, it will be time to deal out destruction to the leftists.  What I would do is what seems to have worked well in American history.  If I lived in Seattle and the mayor would not lift a finger to protect my business or my family, I would join up with other business and property owners in the area, hire about 500-1,000 illegal aliens standing in front of every hardware store, arm them with baseball bats (wrapped in barbed wire like the Zombie shows), and send them into CHOP in the middle of the night and have them pummel every left-wing POS they come across.  At $500 per head, it would be worth doing.

My party seems to think that by using the Beijing Bat Flu to trash the economy to get Trump will have few if any repercussions; I beg to differ- we won’t forget

I get it that my party does not like the current president. I really don’t. However, for me, it’s more about personality than it is about the things the man has done. We haven’t seen economic circumstances this good since the 1950s and 1960s and again in the 1980s and 1990s so why should I continue being incensed with the guy? They couldn’t prove he was a Russian stooge nor could they impeach him over a phone call between him and Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of the Ukraine, that sounded ‘okay’ to me.

BLOG POST #3,511 AT THE AICP-END

148 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2020

Democrat leaders, hear my plea!

Arvin, CA 93203, 06-11-2020 Thursday: This week, you and I have discussed my eye-opening regarding the Democratic Party’s hypocrisy. For far too long, I have been complacent in believing whatever I heard the higher-ups in my party saying. I thought they had my family’s best interests at heart and very seldom ever questioned anything until my party’s political scheming drove my family’s business to the edge of bankruptcy, using the threat of pandemic to do it.

Now, I am not saying that COVID-19, aka the Chinese Bat Virus, aka the Kung Flu (I like that one), is not serious because it is. It holds potential danger for those over age 65, for those confined together in rest homes where both physical and mental health are marginal at best. It poses danger to overweight tubs of goo like me, to those suffering with diabetes, or other chronic disease but it does not hold danger for the majority of people coming into contact with it like the young and the healthy.

Like everyone else, I watched the president’s press conferences regarding the coronavirus and I will admit, he did a surprisingly good job; we’ll leave it at that. I also listened closely to Dr. Tony Fauci and Dr. Deborah Birx, and thought they had things well in hand.

Subsequently, as the weeks passed and things locked up even tighter rather than loosened up, especially as deaths began going down while confirmed cases continued going up, I began to suspect that something more was afoot, that something smelled fishy, that something stunk in Denmark, and then realized the lockdown imposed upon us by Gov. Gavin Newsom was not to protect us but to destroy the state’s economy.

The Chinese Bat Flu of 2020 seemed to be the next attempt at trashing #45 as it followed smack dab on the heels of failed impeachment. All too quickly, the Democrat governors and mayors leapt onto the coronavirus pandemic so they could lock things down, slam the doors shut on most businesses, all the while leaving grocery stores and gas stations, liquor stores, and pot shops open but closing the doors on my restaurant and tens of thousands of others like it without a care as to our personal wellbeing.

Now, I get that the DNC believes that if the economy crashes, they assume they can get senile Joe Biden into the White House. I beg to disagree. IF Blue State governors like Gov. Gavin Newsom and Mayor Eric Garcetti down in Los Angeles and others like them destroy the economy, they are destroying it for everyone, not just Trump voters but fellow Democrats like my family and I and loads of other lifelong Democrats.

Thus, if you destroy the businesses of your voters, we are NOT going to forget. If you think you can hurt the current president by hurting all of us and then think you can turn things around before YOU come up for re-election, I beg to differ. We, the voters, have long memories and are not going to forgive you nor are we going to forget what you have done to us. We will come for YOU.

As I said on Monday, I believe, I did not affix my name to the first two recall petitions seeking to get our silver spoon governor out of office but when a third one comes around, my family and I most certainly will. It is clear you don’t give a flying f**k about any of us, all you do is seek various ways to destroy this president, which is great but at what point are you going to admit defeat?

Look, we don’t like the guy but I am not adverse to him fixing the economy, improving our business opportunities, helping our investments, and giving everyone hope for the first time in decades. I mean, the last guy for whom I voted twice did nothing compared to what this guy has done so I guess I can forgive him for some of his other negative attributes and actions.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I did not say I was going to give up being a Democrat or that I would vote for the guy. However, if you keep talking crazy stuff like getting rid of all police and damaging the economy in a longshot to damage #45, you have another thing coming. Believe me, we won’t forget what you are doing to the country, my fellow Democrats.

Let me know what you think. We will pick up tomorrow where we left off today.

Until Democrats are willing to disengage themselves from public sector unions, there is no point in putting forward one police reform bill after another- it’s all for show

I love the Democratic Party of old, one that stood for the working class, minorities, women, Big Labor, and for peace and not the current one that seems to feel groupthink and propaganda is more important than actually doing the business of the American people.

SPRING SESSION 2020

BLOG POST #3,509 AT THE AICP-END

150 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2020

Perhaps shutting down normal life in California was more about politics than in fear of the Chinese Bat Flu Virus?

Arvin, CA 93203, 06-09-2020 Tuesday: As I told you yesterday, my eyes are NOW WIDE OPEN when it comes to the hypocrisy my party continues to employ as its foundation. I told you that I find the actions of Governor Gavin Newsom to be extremely distressing, inconsiderate, and damned straight insensitive, Newsom is little more than a mediocre politician at best, an inept loser at worst, who has kept his boot atop the necks of Golden State businesses for far too long now.

He has maintained this unprecedented control via citing the Chinese Bat Flu as his number one reason to maintain the oppressive shutdown,. Most of us in this state are Democrats, we vote democratic election after election, but we also rely on customers entering our doors so we can pay taxes to local, state, and federal authorities. Without money coming in, many of us are struggling to reopen our doors at all, much less to keep them open. Does Sacramento have any desire to help us?

I think we now understand that for some COVID-19 can be a death sentence while for many, it is little more than a mild flu at worst or a troubling cold at best. Therefore, WHY force everyone to cringe indoors, away from family, friends, neighbors, employees, and customers when for most, it is a personal choice as to whether we are willing to risk exposure in the normal every day pursuit of our lives.

After all, Sweden shut down nothing, relying upon the common sense of the Swedish people to determine whether they would or would not go about their daily lives.

If people felt uncomfortable going out in public due to having pre-existing health conditions that might put them at risk, then they could choose to remain home. In so doing, they had a somewhat lesser amount of cases and fatalities so why would the same attitudes not have worked here in the United States in general and in California in particular?

When protests broke out over the death of George Floyd a couple of weeks ago, it suddenly appeared that avoiding fellow human beings due to the possibility of getting the coronavirus went out the window as protesting what the white cop did to the black man mattered more than protecting the public health.

That being the case, millions of Californians believe we could have kept our businesses open, just increasing the normal every day sanitary and hygiene actions every business is required by law to do in order to protect everyone within our doors. After all, every foodservice operation no matter the level has to follow stringent rules with which to protect the public health so why are we unable to continue doing it?

In undergoing this eye-opening experience, I now understand that much of what my political party has fed me since my teens is questionable. Don’t get me wrong, I will never stop being a Democrat but the Democratic Party has left me, not I, them. Until they are able to act independently of Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer and every Democrat politician can exercise his or her opinion as how to go about doing the business of the American people, I can no longer support them without questions or debate.

I love the Democratic Party of old, one that stood for the working class, minorities, women, Big Labor, and for peace and not the current one that seems to feel groupthink and propaganda is more important than actually doing the business of the American people.

Ergo, Nancy Pelosi has this bill to rein in the cops but until Democrats are willing to separate themselves from public employees unions- like the Fraternal Order of Police unions around the country, she can talk all she wants but nothing is going to change, it’s all for show.

Hypocrisy such as this is WHY I now have more questions than answers. However, until both parties are willing to cross the aisle and to work with one another on the prominent issues, there is not much point for pushing forward one lackluster bill after another when it’s all about soundbites and gotcha and besides- NO one in his or her right mind will get rid of the police. NO one.

See you tomorrow.
