  20. 1913 Friday: Famed black bluesman, Muddy Waters[i], was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi, on this date.
  21. 1915 Sunday: During World War I, Czarist forces continue trying to fight through the Carpathian Mountains and some of them are able to capture some outlying towns.  Still, the Kaiser cannot permit his main ally- and the reason for having gone to the war in the first place because of the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand and his wife Sophie- to be knocked out of the war as it would leave Imperial Germany open to invasion from the south.  On the Southeastern Front- Russian forces are driving into Armenia in the hopes of liberating their fellow Christians from a repressive Ottoman Empire (as well as to add additional territory to their domain).
  22. 1916 Tuesday: The U.S. Senate agrees by a vote of 82-6 to join the side of the Allies in World War I.  Meanwhile, on the Western Front, all eyes are fixed on Verdun.  The death toll is horrendous for both the German attackers and the French defenders.  The loss of life in this terrible battle would cause some French units to refuse to fight.  Elsewhere, on the Southeastern Front where the Russians are fighting a series of battles from the Carpathian Mountains to Armenia, the Czar makes a change in command- General Aleksei Brusilov in place of General Nicolay Iudovich Ivanov.  Soon, General Brusilov would design the so-called “Brusilov Offensive” that would almost knock the Central Powers to their knees.
  23. 1917 Wednesday: The U.S. Senate voted 90-6 to enter World War I on the Allied side.  This would drive the Germans to launch a major offensive all across the Western Front in the hopes of pulverizing both the British and French forces before any American help can arrive.   Still, the ravages of hunger and in some places, starvation, is threatening all sides as the farmlands every nation depended upon for food have become battlefields.  The German U-Boats are trying to starve Britain while British warships continue trying to keep the Central Powers unable to import any outside foodstuffs.  Civilians are becoming desperate everywhere.
  24. 1918 Thursday: The Germans are launching all-out assaults on the Western Front along the Somme and Avre Rivers, the goal once again to knock the Allies out before all is lost.  The Imperial German forces have been able to bring most of their troops from Eastern Europe for one last push although they have to make sure the Russians stick to the agreement they hammered out with Berlin in exchange for not having large portions of their western territories like the Ukraine kept as war booty.
  25. 1919 Friday: Allied troops continue fighting with White Russian forces to subdue the cancer of communism that is engulfing Russia, Eastern Europe, and even popping up in parts of eastern Germany where the authorities have their hands full.  The Germans are in dire straits, being blamed for the entire war when they were not the ones who started it; no, they came to the aid of their Austro-Hungarian allies and the rest is history as they say.
  26. 1932 Monday: After five years of research, Professor C.G. King of the University of Pittsburgh, isolated vitamin C.

  29. 1940 Thursday: Acting on intelligence, French law enforcement scoops up almost 40 communists attempting to reform the outlawed communist party.  Most of them would get five years in prison while others would be let go.  Tensions are growing and with threat of a HOT WAR only weeks away, the French want to eliminate internal problems.
  30. 1941 Friday: The Afrika Korps conquers the Fascist Italian, North African port of Benghazi, Libya, driving the British into headlong retreat.  German and Italian motorized columns roll through the streets and jubilant civilians celebrate their arrival.   Elsewhere, as Germans move towards Yugoslavia, Adolf Hitler also approves a plan for the Nazis to aid their fumbling Italian allies and knock Greece out of the fight.
  31. 1942 Saturday: The Luftwaffe launches a major attack on the Soviet naval base at Kronstadt.  Although the German warplanes inflicted damage on 13 vessels, they were unable to sink any of the fleet.
  32. 1944 Tuesday: French General Charles de Gaulle forms a new government with communists among it, preparing to return to Paris when the Allies land on the Continent.  On the Eastern Front, the Germans are launching localized counterattacks with the Fourth Panzer Army which capture the western Ukrainian city of Kovel and throw back the Soviet defenders.
  33. 1945 Wednesday: The Red Army liberates Hungary from the Nazis.  Meanwhile, U.S. forces liberated the Nazi death camp Ohrdruf in Germany.  All roads lead to Berlin right now as the Allies continue forging ahead, wiping out resistance wherever they find it.

  44. 1972 Tuesday: The first electric power plant operated entirely by garbage begins operation.

  54. 2003 Friday: As rumors spread about Saddam Hussein being dead from American airstrikes, he goes on state TV, references the recent shooting down of a U.S. Apache helicopter, and boasts to the world that he ‘is still alive and in charge.’
  55. 2004 Sunday: PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat boastfully dismisses Israeli threats to whack him.   U.S. and other world leaders blast Israel for saying they might do a horrible thing such as murdering a world-class terrorist who has more innocent blood on his hands than any other Islamist thug.
  56. 2005 Monday: Palestinians in the West Bank are going berserk today when word has it that Israel is going to begin dumping 10,000 tons of garbage in landfills in the area.  Of course, the Palestinians claim it’s going to foul their water supply and that it’s a breach of international treaties and the like.  We say, ‘shut up, when you stop treating your citizens like garbage, urging them to commit acts of jihad, maybe the Israelis won’t treat YOU like garbage.’  (Note- Moses Scharbug III is responsible for this opinion).  Elsewhere, insurgents in Iraq launch an attack on Abu Ghraib prison to free their jihadist brethren injuring American and Iraqi troops and jailers.  The guards are able to fight the scumbags off.
  57. 2006 Tuesday: Tom Delay, R-TX, the former majority leader in the U.S. House of Representatives announces his resignation.  Meanwhile, labor protests continue in France what with millions taking to streets across the country demanding the First Employment Contract not be put into effect.
  58. 2007 Wednesday: As House Speaker Nancy “Mumbles” Pelosi continues her ‘listening trip’ across the Middle East, the Israelis are having none of it, especially since she visited Syrian mass murdered President Bashar al-Assad the previous day.  Prime Minister Ehud Olmert blasts “Mumbles” for the Syrian trip saying that it was a ‘major mistake.’  He also denies that the befuddled Democrat politician handed him a ‘peace proposal.’  If she did, she probably forgot it a day later.
  59. 2008 Friday: Law enforcement authorities launch a raid on Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints owned by YFZ Ranch in Texas nets 401 children and 133 women taken into state custody.  Meanwhile, the U.S. Department of State renews a contract with Blackwater Worldwide- a company that provides security via mercenaries- to continue protecting U.S. diplomats in the world’s troubled hotspots.
  60. 2009 Saturday: Costa Rica, Malaysia, and the Philippines find themselves in trouble today.  You ask why?  Well, the Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development blacklists them for being tax havens where the wealthy can hide their money.  What is wrong with that:  We all want to be able to do that… elsewhere, in North Waziristan, Pakistan, a U.S. drone strike whacks 13 jihadists convening with one another.  Yikes.
  61. 2010 Sunday: In the mine rescue in Shanxi, China, rescuers pull out 114 miners after pulling out the other 39 or so the previous day.  These poor souls have been trapped down there for more than a week so God bless them for rescuing these poor workers.  Elsewhere, the war in Iraq continues to rage as Islamist thugs set off simultaneous car bombs outside the German, Iranian, and Egyptian embassies.  Many people on the street are killed or injured.
  62. 2011 Monday: Reports claim that China has successfully modified cows to produce ‘human milk’.  People- does this not scare the living f**k out of you?  What the hell is this communist hellhole doing?  Enough is enough.  Meanwhile, the Israelis have their hands full with the Arab Spring as the Palestinians are causing havoc along the border with Gaza and their country.  Israeli warplanes are crisscrossing Palestinian airspace letting them know that if they step out of line, they are going to light them up.
  63. 2012 Wednesday: The first deployment of U.S. Marines arrives in Australia’s city of Darwin in the Northern Territory.   Elsewhere- we hate to say this, some nations were better off under colonialism– a suicide bomber attacks the National Theater in the Somali capital of Mogadishu while a ceremony was underway killing at least 10 people and wounding God knows how many others.  Fascist Italy, please come back!
  64. 2013 Thursday: Pulitzer Prize –winning film reviewer Roger Ebert, 70, died in Chicago, Illinois.  Meanwhile, the Hubble Space Telescope observes the most distant supernova on record on this date.
  65. 2014 Friday:  The 16,480-foot Tungurahua volcano erupts twice; the volcano is located about 90 miles south of Quito in Ecuador.  Elsewhere, in a smart move, the South Korean military test fires some ballistic missiles that they hope with some improvements will be able to hit any target in the territory of their northern neighbor, North Korea.  Meanwhile, in West Africa, the rampaging Ebola epidemic has killed at least 90 people in Guinea and Liberia and now the first case has appeared in Mali.
  66. 2015 Saturday: Syrian and other Middle Eastern refugees continue to flood across the Mediterranean with the Italian navy rescuing 1,500 over the past 24 hours.  The only way to halt this insanity is for the Europeans to begin sinking the refugee vessels.  Meanwhile, the United States Army in the Obama era (it would have to be) is probing allegations that its members committed sexual assaults while deployed there between 2003-2007.  Ah, the Bush-Cheney years, that’s Barack Hussein Obama for you.
  67. 2016 Monday: Vietnam says, ‘enough is enough’ when it comes to Chi-Com intrusions into their fishing waters with their ‘fishing fleets’ which in reality, are military operations.  Vietnamese naval and marine assets board this ship and then take it under tow back to one of their ports.  Of course, Beijing starts making all manner of threats.  In the 78th NCAA Men’s National Basketball Championship, Villanova defeats North Carolina by a final score of 77-74.
  68. 2017 Tuesday: Syrian government forces launch a chemical weapons attack on Khan Shaykhun resulting in at least 80 civilian deaths and countless others injured.  President Barack Obama had warned Bashar al-Assad that ‘if he crossed the red line and used chemical weapons, there would be hell to pay.’  No hell to pay until Donald J. Trump became president.  Meanwhile, according to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Chinese retail giant Alibaba becomes the world’s largest retailer.  You go, China, you go.
  69. 2018 Wednesday: Since the U.S. Congress won’t act to do something on the U.S.-Mexico border, President Donald J. Trump grasps the bull by the balls and sends the U.S. National Guard to aid struggling Customs and Border Patrol officers attempting to deal with one wave after another of illegal alien invaders.  Of course, the 45th president suffers all manner of criticism for attempting to halt Democrats AND RINO Republicans’ beloved illegal aliens.  Democrats want voters and RINOs like cheap labor.  We say, “Militarize the southern border with minefields, antivehicle, antipersonnel, anti-boat obstacles, a massive wall, artillery positions, and even seed the Rio Grande with alligator pups.  When the latter grow up, they will patrol the river…
  70. 2019 Thursday: The Church of Latter-Day Saints- aka the Mormon Church- promises to roll back anti-LGBTQIA+ policies which include not baptizing the children of gay parents.  Bowed to pressure, did you?  What a shame.  Meanwhile, the governor of Guam- Lourdes “Lou” Leon Guerrero, Democrat, signs a bill permitting for the recreational use of marijuana.  Elsewhere, in the aftermath of the Christchurch mosque massacres, both New Zealand and Australia pass laws prohibiting the posting of violent content online.  If such content is posted, it must be removed immediately or the service providers must face the consequences.
  71. 2020 Saturday: The Wuhan Virus- straight out of Wuhan, China- continues claiming lives around the world and ruining much of the global economy.  Although Beijing continues to claim that things are ‘looking really great in China,’ everyone knows this is little more than propaganda put forth by their state-run media.  Shame on them.  Current figures for today are more than one million confirmed cases what with more than 64,000 confirmed deaths worldwide.  In the United States, there are 312,076 confirmed U.S. cases and 8,496 confirmed deaths.  When this crisis ends, the world will hold the communist government of China accountable and as Chef Goldie McNamara has said, President Donald J. Trump should demand a return to the Two-China Policy, of recognizing the equality of Nationalist aka Free China as a separate entity from the People’s Republic of (Communist China).
  72. 2021 Sunday: HAPPY EASTER!

ALBUM OF THE DAY AT THE AICPENDBLOG.COM:

The Michael Schenker Group released a 4-CD retrospective live album featuring four complete shows recorded in the early 1980s when he had just formed his solo band. “Walk the Stage- the Official Bootleg Box Set” came out on May 30, 2009.  Joining the legendary German guitarist are well-known and much beloved members of his solo band: vocalist Gary Barden, Chris Glen (bass), Andy Nye and Paul Raymond (keyboards), and Ted McKenna and Cozy Powell (drums).  Always a wild rocker, Schenker puts on one hell of a great show and these four shows encapsulated on four discs (plus a fifth- a DVD)- albeit five-star bootleg quality- are well worth whatever price eBay might be charging for it, which at the time of this writing was running around $157.00.  We hope you will seek this one out because the man and his band have been with us for a long, long time.  You will enjoy this album so please, seek it out wherever you shop for the best in rock music- you can thank us later.

One day when we learn the complete truth about what happened this election cycle, it will dwarf the conspiracy theories surrounding the JFK assassination

That leaves us with the conspiracy theories. Many people believe that Beijing somehow had a hand in this as did Russia and Iran. I thought each of these countries were our mortal enemies yet they are salivating at the prospect of a Biden presidency. The question is what does this portend? I mean, had we heard more about Hunter Biden’s laptop and the business deals with the Chi-Coms, the Ukrainians, and the rest of the countries with whom the Bidens had relations, we might have gone down a different path.

ELECTION DAY 2020 PLUS THIRTY-THREE

Strange circumstances surrounding this year’s elections…

Arvin, CA 93203, 12-06-2020 Sunday:   Yesterday, we were discussing the strange circumstances surrounding the ‘election victory’ of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.  As far as we are concerned, Ms. Harris is a non-entity here in California, because we liked Barbara Boxer far better than we like her and Senator Boxer was unlikable.  However, if the election stands, at least we will get Senator Harris out of the Golden State and make her someone else’s problem.

WHY Vice President Joe Biden was pushed out of the way in 2016 is beyond the comprehension of many.  Did his boss back then, President Barack Obama, make some sort of devil’s deal with his former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton (and her husband, Bill) that pushed his then-VP aside?  Many believe this to be true.

I did not begin writing for the American Institute of Culinary Politics-the Elemental News of the Day until July 2016 when Hillary was the nominee and Tim Kain was soon to be the number two on the ticket.  I was more worried about Donald Trump winning the White House at the time so I offered no thoughts on the nominating process.  It definitely was a flawed process with four ‘nobodies’ (not meant to insult anyone- including Bernie[i]) because there was never any doubt that Hillary was NOT going to be ‘it.’

But why not Joe?  I am telling you Joe had his a-game going back then so I think that if Hillary and Joe had gone head-to-head for the nomination, I think Joe would have been the nominee hands down.  He HAD a personality back then, could flash that big toothy smile and people would have gone with him.  Even as a gaff machine, he still would have come out on top because let’s face it- Hillary’s personality was never attractive or inviting and back in 2016, it was pretty awful.  I mean, we are not supposed to be judgmental but that voice- yikes.

Fast forward four years and here we are with a president-elect who could not fight his way out of a wet paper bag if his life depended upon it.  I am not knocking him but folks, there is NO way Joe Biden won the nomination and then the White House on his own- no way.  I refuse to believe it.  I refuse to accept it.  Yes, Donald Trump most likely is going to be gone but are we going to be in a better, more secure place?   It’s not like Kamala knows what the hell she’s doing.

That leaves us with the conspiracy theories.  Many people believe that Beijing somehow had a hand in this as did Russia and Iran.  I thought each of these countries were our mortal enemies yet they are salivating at the prospect of a Biden presidency.  The question is what does this portend?  I mean, had we heard more about Hunter Biden’s laptop[ii] and the business deals with the Chi-Coms, the Ukrainians, and the rest of the countries with whom the Bidens had relations, we might have gone down a different path.

The more we see the testimony of witness after witness after witness on One America News, the more we know something BIG was going on, something HUGE.  Ballots in semi-trucks leaving New York state for Michigan.  What?  People locked out of the vote tabulating rooms, Canadian voting systems they won’t use themselves, coupled with Venezuelan software that steals elections, votes being counted in Germany, Spain, and even China, what the hell is going on?  Is this what we genuinely want?  Is our country honestly going to be okay?  I sincerely don’t know and I will admit, my wife and I are scared, afraid, extremely worried, something smells mighty fishy in Beijing right now.[iii]

I am at the conclusion that something SO BIG occurred this election cycle that one day, the conspiracy theories surrounding the assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy will look like nothing, like child’s play, like a blip on the screen.  It would seem that the news and social medias, my party, the Deep State, the FBI, Justice, the CIA, all of these entities and more conspired to commit the greatest fraud the world has ever witnessed all to get rid of Trump.

The fact that Fox News made the 180-degree turn by coming to our side tells me they had a choice- either participate in the New Era or go down the tubes when the New Regime takes power.

I guess we shall see.  Belize or Costa Rica looking mighty fine day by day.

See you next year; I hope I am wrong about all I’ve conjectured about today.

On September 18, 2015, Savoy Brown released their next album, “The Devil to Pay,” a superb album in which the band, Kim Simmonds on lead guitar/vocals/harmonica/keyboards, and Pat De Salvo (bass), Garnet Grimm (drums), delivers a monumental performance of brand-new blues-driven, smoking rock.  This band is one that has been with us for 50 years now, maybe another two-or-three years, which makes them worth hearing.  Please, visit Amazon.com where you can get the album in the format, the condition, and the price that works best for you- you will be glad you did.

FOOTNOTES:

[i] In the Democratic Party’s 2016 primary process, Hillary ran against Vermont Democratic-Socialist Senator Bernie Sanders, Virginia Senator Jim Webb (a great politician), Lincoln Chaffee, governor of one of the New England states and a former Republican, and Martin O’Malley, former Maryland governor and mayor of Baltimore.  Most astute political observers labeled them a group of ‘nobodies,’ which is not nice but mostly correct.  Webb and Chaffee dropped out relatively quickly in the process but Sanders and O’Malley battled quite a ways into the process before submitting to Mrs. Clinton.

[ii] The fact that the FBI had Hunter’s laptop for as long as they did and no one heard anything about it until near the election shocks the heck out of many Americans.  Had one of Trump’s sons had it, watch out but with Hunter being the one with the incriminating evidence- against him, no less- what the heck.  Again, something is not right especially when we learn that if Biden does become president, Christopher Wray will maintain his position as FBI director says it all.

[iii] The thing is, once our elections become corrupt, they will always be corrupt and our country will begin the downward slide into being no better than most every other country on the globe.  I do not want to end up like Canada, much less like Venezuela.  We must fight for the truth.

If things don’t improve and soon here in California, next year might be the year to retire abroad, maybe to Costa Rica or Belize

This should be a time of joy, my friends, seeing as how we are entering the Holiday Season. My family and I love Christmas, we love celebrating it, we love giving to others and doing for those who cannot do for themselves. This year, all of that is going to change my friends as we cannot even afford a Christmas tree. We can afford nothing, we are on the verge of putting our business up for sale but in these troubled and trying times, whatever price we end up receiving for it will be far too low.

FALL SESSION 2020

BLOG POST #3,687 AT THE AICP-END

ELECTION DAY 2020 PLUS THIRTY-ONE

Give municipal mayors an inch and the despots will take a mile…

Arvin, CA 93203, 12-04-2020 Friday:  On Tuesday, I mentioned the problems California is dealing with when it comes to a governor who behaves more like a dictator than as an elected official.  As a fellow Democrat, my family and I are dismayed with not only him but with various other mayors, county health departments, and county supervisors across our state all because their messaging is inconsistent, restrictions overwhelming, lockdowns more oppressive, and the common, ordinary, everyman-and-woman are gasping for breath.  The people who suffer the most are people who run restaurants, bars, movie theaters, and other facilities in which people gather together and enjoy one another’s company such as venues in which live music occurs.[i]  We are the ones who suffer the most and between state and federal avoidance of our plight, no one knows how much longer we will be able to survive unless relief should arrive and soon.

The thing that hurts us the most is the hypocrisy, much of which I pointed to over the past three days when we were discussing the nominees for the upcoming Third Annual Lavrentiy Beria Award.  As you should have noticed, we had loads of governors and mayors on the list, more so than the previous two years combined.  Give these people an inch and they’ll take a mile and that seems to be where we have arrived: a time of despotism across the country.

The American people fully comprehend that we should use precautions so as not to become ill with the Chinese Virus.  However, it appears as time has passed, the disease has lessened in severity- if it ever was as bad as they claimed it to be- so why have things become more restrictive and not less?

When we hear one knowledgeable person after another tell us that closing the schools was wrong as Dr. Tony Fauci recently did, then why aren’t they being reopened?  Schools across the country should be throwing the doors open and welcoming their students back and yet, we have heard nothing here in California that that is going to happen anytime soon.

The question is WHY, especially when the people in charge are moaning that ‘all kinds of abuse is occurring in the homes, abuse that teachers are unable to see’ just as they whine about the kids not receiving three squares a day as well as how distance learning and isolation is harming the kids.  Why aren’t they reopening?

Instead, we have people making excuses, people like Mayor Garcetti, “I’m not responsible for this, the Los Angeles County Health Department is calling the shots.”  Yeah, right, but YOU, sir, are the mayor of the nation’s second largest city, are you just a figurehead in the employ of George Soros, the Chi-Coms, and other unseen, hidden hands or are you worthy of the title, ‘mayor of Los Angeles, California.’  If so, then act like it.

Up in the Bay Area, San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara Counties are tightening things up to the point that their restrictions resemble those of Hawaii where lockdowns are severe, people in a deep state of funk, all because their livelihoods have been stripped from them and they are dependent upon the government for virtually everything.  This is not right nor should free people be forced to tolerate it.

Well, we are thinking about taking a trip down to Belize pretty soon to see what it’s like down there, Costa Rica, too.  While we do not have loads of cash, we have enough to retire on provided we move outside the country.

By the time I am up in the cycle to write again in 2021, I should be able to share a report with you.  What I do know is that unless things change for the better and soon, there won’t be much point remaining here in California or in the U.S.  Thank you, Chi-Coms, thank you, Governor Gavin Newsom, and thank you, Democratic Party for all the years I devoted to you in exchange for hardly anything in return but loads of platitudes and the like.  You really know how to depress the spirits of your voters.[ii]

Why?

That will do it for today, my friends, we will pick back up tomorrow.

On February 11, 2014, Savoy Brown released their next album, “Going to the Delta,” a classic album in which the band, now a three-piece consisting of Kim Simmonds on lead guitar/vocals/harmonica/keyboards, and Pat De Salvo (bass), Garnet Grimm (drums).  This band is one that has been with us for 50 years now, maybe another two-or-three years, which makes them worth hearing.  Guitarist Simmonds has never given up his touring, his playing, and should rank up there with Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, and Jeff Beck but sadly is forgotten by most chroniclers of rock music.  Well, most of the chroniclers are long since in the grave.  Ah, well, visit Amazon.com where you can get the album in the format, the condition, and the price that works best for you- you will be glad you did.

FOOTNOTES:

[i] Live music is problematic here in California yet in a city such as San Diego, where our friend and colleague Chef Pedro lives, one can visit a strip club because the sex workers (or in the case of strippers, ‘artists’) but you can’t visit a bar with live music much less go to a concert.  In some cities, we are prevented from attending church, from playing loud music, from singing, from doing most anything yet no one ever seems to tell the Muslims ‘you can’t go to mosque.’  Tell a Muslim something such as that and it’s ‘Allah Akbar” time.  Hypocrisy.

[ii] We understand everyone is at risk- or are they- of getting ill with the Wuhan Virus.  The thing is, those who become ill typically are those in poor health, senior citizens and the vulnerable where everyone else is doing okay, can handle it, survive it, and move on.  If you drive by testing centers, you see lines of cars waiting in line so their occupants can get tests, tests that could show the presence of COVID-19 but not illness caused by COVID-19.  This jacks up the numbers which then allows government to increase the pressure atop us.  Something is not right in all this, something to which, I am unwilling to agree.  Many of my colleagues believe its purpose is to force socialism down our throats; while this could be true, at present, I won’t agree or disagree with the assumption.  Let me know what you think.
