  62. 2018 Wednesday: After a lengthy illness, longtime songwriting collaborator with Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead[viii]– John Perry Barlow- dies.  Elsewhere, a bipartisan group of U.S. senators announce they have arrived at a new two-year funding agreement but have not come to agreement on an immigration reform bill.   Meanwhile, House Minority Leader Nancy “Mumbles” Pelosi goes to the floor of the people’s house and speaks for eight hours- rivaling thugs like Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez- begging her fellow lawmakers to protect the DREAMers.  Screw ‘em.
  63. 2019 Thursday: The Supreme Court temporarily blocks the new Louisiana abortion law, said to be one of the most restrictive.  Elsewhere, dimwitted Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, aka AOC, aka Baby Evita, aka Sandy Cortez, and Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey, both Democrats, unveil their ‘landmark legislation,’ the Green New Deal which is a backdoor way of stuffing socialism down the throats of the American people by enlisting them in the fight against CLIMATE CHANGE.  What a load of crap.  Meanwhile, U.S. Special Envoy Elliott Abrams rules out negotiations with the thuggish president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro.  Negotiate at the point of a gun barrel.
  64. 2020 Friday: In communist China, the first doctor who raised the alarm about the COVID-19 threat- Dr. Li Wenliang succumbs to the disease.  Meanwhile, Xi Jinping- the Big Dog in communist China declares a ‘people’s war’ against the devastating virus outbreak.   Next, an Italian man back from Wuhan where he visited his girlfriend is found to have contracted the coronavirus.  Elsewhere, Royal Caribbean Cruises bans travelers from mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao from boarding any of its ships due to the outbreak.   Finally, President Donald J. Trump begins cleansing the administration of various rats.  He fires two people who testified against him in the trumped-up impeachment trial- Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, a National Security Council adviser, and Gordon Sondland, U.S. ambassador to the European Union.  Good riddance.
  65. 2021 Sunday: Today is Super Bowl LV between the Kansas City Chiefs (16-2) and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (13-5).  We shall see what we shall see.  As far as the National Anthem went, we did not see anyone disrespecting the Flag.  GOOD.  We asked our pool from the previous Third Annual Lavrentiy Beria Award- 1,284 people- to chip in $25 apiece to create a pot and then bet final scores.  The interesting thing about this Super Bowl is that we have 641 members pulling for Kansas City and 643 for Tampa Bay, an almost 50/50 split. I wish I had gone with the Bucs- Chef Cheryl.
  66. 2021 Sunday A: Here are the COVID-19 statistics for the planet as a whole: 105,995,961 confirmed cases, +534,280, 2,313,477, confirmed deaths, +12,586, and 59,041,531 confirmed recoveries, +396,519.  Next, here are the stats for the United States, the intended target of the Chinese-engineered Wuhan Virus pandemic: 27,150,916 confirmed cases, up 96,207 from yesterday’s reporting, 465,861 confirmed deaths, UP 2,771, and 11,166,500 confirmed recoveries- same as reported for nearly two weeks now.  It would appear in the age of ‘Joe Biden,’ people are becoming sicker with the Chinese Virus and dying faster than they did under Donald Trump.  Time to impeach this pathetic, senile moron.  NOW.   NOTE: SINCE JOE BIDEN BECAME PRESIDENT ON JANUARY 20, 2021, THERE HAVE BEEN 137,433 CHI-VI DEATHS IN THE U.S.  Joe, YOU claimed you had a plan to defeat the communist virus, what the hell are YOU going to do about it- sit on your ass and blame everything on Donald Trump.  (Speaking of dimwits, how long is White House press secretary Jen “Circle Back” Psaki going to keep her job?  Talk about dismal, she’s like a deer in headlights).
  67. 2021 Sunday B: Next, in the three states in which, the world-famous American Institute of Culinary Politics-the Elemental News of the Day employs chef-bloggers- California, Hawaii, and Washington- here are the stats, California first: 3,406,890 confirmed cases, 43,987 confirmed deaths, and NO MENTION of confirmed recoveries.  Next here are the numbers for Hawaii: 26,393 confirmed cases, 416 confirmed deaths, and NO MENTION of confirmed recoveries.  Finally, here are the stats for Washington: 323,748 confirmed cases, 4,527 confirmed deaths, and NO MENTION of confirmed recoveries.  Let us look at one other piece of the United States- Ohio: currently, they have 920,217 confirmed cases, 11,659 confirmed deaths, and NO mention of confirmed recoveries.  Now that Mo has relocated to Israel, let’s look at the statistics there: 685,583 confirmed cases, 5,071 confirmed deaths, and 609,374 confirmed recoveries.  News reports mention that today is the eighth day in a row in which, the United States has fewer than 100,000 hospitalizations for the Xi Jinping Bat Flu per day.  Are we on a trajectory to getting past this evil s**t?
  68. 2021 Sunday C: Now that Claudia Tenney, R-NY, has reclaimed her seat from Democrat Anthony Brindisi, Speaker Nancy “Mumbles” Pelosi’s majority in the House of Representatives is a mere 221-212.  Next year, the GOP is going to win back the House and expel “Mumbles.”  Meanwhile, communist Democrat Ayanna Pressley, D-Massachusetts, is moaning and groaning about Chi-Vi vaccine ‘redlining’ for black folks.  Chef Bea O’Malley, longtime chef-author here at the world famous American Institute of Culinary Politics-the Elemental News of the Day wrote earlier this year that ‘any time white liberals encourage black folks to do something for their BENEFIT is when black folks should be on high alert.’  It appears that dimwit Rep. Pressley has not gotten the message yet.2021 Sunday D: Dingbat Jake Tapper said on CNN that the ‘more MAGA ‘supporters’ are arrested the more they point to President Donald J. Trump’s rhetoric as being the driving factor in them storming Capitol Hill on January 6.’  What a dumb ass, folks, everyone now knows beyond the shadow of a doubt that ANTIFA infiltrated the ranks of legitimate Trump supporters and encouraged the violence on Capitol Hill on January 6.  Sources tell us that Trump supporters when scooped up are the ones remaining in jail while the Antifa trash are quietly released thanks to the bail funds established for this communist garbage.  Tapper needs to wake up and smell the truth.
  69. 2021 Sunday E: The people behind Joe Biden are seeking a way to reenter the Iranian nuclear deal, the JCPOA.   Secretary of State Anthony Blinken says, “Iran must return to the nuke deal before the United States does.”   The foreign minister of Iran- Javad Zarif tells Jake Tapper that ‘Iran never left the nuclear deal whereas the United States did’ and that the U.S. must lift all sanctions and return to the deal before the Islamic Republic ever will.  It sounds as though we have an Iranian standoff.   We always say, “NUKE THEM.”   Meanwhile, the Biden administration wants to increase the number of refugees admitted into the United States per year from the 15,000 authorized under the Trump administration to 62,500 as a start.  AS A START.  Ye gods, Joe.
  70. 2021 Sunday F: On Fareed Zakaria GPS on CNN, Chinese ambassador to the United States Cui Tiankai says ‘Chinese foreign policy is a policy for peace’ and that his nation signing friendship deals with neighboring countries will bring peace and tranquility to the region.’  When pressed by Zakaria on the Uighurs, Tiankai says, “The Uighurs are happy and that the Uighur camps are NOT labor camps but job training centers.’  As for claims that Uighur women are routinely raped by Chi-Com guards, Tiankai says, ‘Nope, no truth in this.’  Uh, okay.  Can we look forward to similar ‘job training centers’ here in the U.S. under Democratic-Socialist leadership?  Remember: Macht Arbeit Frei– so said the Nazis…Tiankai also said that ‘people can make allegations about Chi-Coms responsibility for the Wuhan Virus Crisis but must prove those allegations before making them.’  He also said scientists ‘must look at other countries before criticizing his country.’
  71. 2021 Sunday G: Speaking of the Chi-Coms and their malign interference around the world, we learned that the leaders of the military junta that overthrew and imprisoned Myanmar leader Sun Suu Kyi met with their counterparts in Beijing within the past few weeks.  And the Chi-Coms claim they are for peace in the region and the world.  Elsewhere, One America News’ Chanel Rion points out that ‘Hunter Biden becoming an artist and an art dealer is a great way to rake in millions to billions of dollars as buyers of fine art do not have to disclose their identities.’  Can we expect to see ‘works’ of Hunter Biden retailing for millions of dollars?  The Democrats never miss out on ways of self-enrichment.
  72. 2021 Sunday H: U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen claims that ‘IF Congress passes Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion COVID-19 Relief-Stimulus Bill, the U.S. could see full employment by next year but alludes to the unemployment level returning to what it was prior to the Chinese lab-engineered pandemic most likely won’t happen until sometime in 2024.  Friends, we have been over this: the Biden administration is going to destroy job growth and wages with a triple whammy: (1) raising the minimum wage to $15 per hour will destroy 1 in 4 jobs; (2) not having a plan for the pandemic and an unwillingness of teacher unions to return to the job; and (3) throwing open the borders to millions of low-skilled to no-skilled workers who will work for less.  In Democratic administrations, NO one ever seems to be brought to justice over firing American workers, hiring illegal workers, and paying the scum under the table.
  73. 2021 Sunday I: Republican Congressman Andrew Clyde, Georgia’s 9th congressional district, says he believes the metal detectors emplaced by House Speaker Nancy “Mumbles” Pelosi are ‘unconstitutional.’  We agree.  He also says he will ‘risk the fines imposed by “Mumbles” for seeking to skip passing through them.  Good.   Meanwhile, in Wyoming, state Republicans say that Congresswoman Liz Cheney, the No. 3 in GOP House leadership, is going to have to repay the state’s GOP treasury for all monies given to this Democrat, uh, we mean ‘RINO Republican.’  Elsewhere, since Donald Trump’s “Art of the Comeback” is out of print, at Amazon.com, it’s now up to nearly $900 per copy.   Finally, Twitter permanently suspends Gateway Pundit founder Jim Hoft and famed broadcaster Wayne Allyn Root for violating their civic integrity policy or some BS such as that.

ALBUM OF THE DAY AT THE AICPENDBLOG.COM:

Waysted returned with their third effort with a somewhat slimmed-down band.  “The Good, the Bad, and the Waysted” came out on September 15, 1986 and featured Pete Way (bass), Fin Muir (vocals), Paul Chapman (guitars) augmented by Humble Pie drummer Jerry Shirley and Jimmy DeLeila (guitars/keyboards/vocals).  One tune from the album “Hang ‘em High” received radio airplay which was good as it allowed the band to receive much-deserved attention.  We enjoy this album and we know you will, too, so please, seek it out, give it a good listen, and consider adding it to your collection- you will be glad you did.  We guarantee it.

WINTER SESSION 2021

BLOG POST #3,752 AT THE AICP-END

DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2022: 639

I predict Kansas City will beat Tampa Bay today by a final score of 48-45

Honolulu, HI 96782, 02-07-2021 Sunday:  Today is the day, Super Bowl LV, one of the biggest games in the history of the sport.  We have the current reigning champions in the Kansas City Chiefs going to Tampa Bay to play Tom Brady’s Buccaneers.  I am telling you common sense would say go with KC because Patrick Mahomes is crazy good but when Tom Brady is in the mix, never say never– especially when he is on the verge of making history by winning another ring playing for a different team and in a different conference.  I mean, wow and were it not for COVID-19, we would be doing landmark business today but sadly will be home watching the game.

The Tom Brady-led New England Patriots lost three Super Bowls out of nine appearances- two to the New York Giants (XLII and XLVI) and one to the Philadelphia Eagles (LII).  They almost lost one to the Atlanta Falcons (LI) but managed to overcome a huge deficit in that wild game and won one of the all-time great Super Bowl shootouts.

The two that the Brady-led Patriots lost were matchups in which, the Patriots should have won- especially the second meeting- but for some reason known ONLY to God, Eli Manning beat him and his team BOTH times.

While I am not saying that Eli Manning is like Patrick Mahomes or that Patrick Mahomes is like Eli Manning, I think when Brady goes up against an off-the-wall QB like Eli Manning was in his prime, he has problems.  Eli Manning was able to win two wild games and I suspect that if I were laying money down for today’s game, I would put it on Mahomes as that kid is crazy good.

The Super Bowl that Tom Brady and the Patriots lost to the Eagles was to a team that unlike the Atlanta Falcons was NOT content to rest on a big lead it worked at acquiring from the get-go but kept on pushing and pushing and pushing until the final play of the game.  Nick Foles did what Matt Ryan could not do and that was to continue having faith in his and his team mates’ abilities to continue pushing for points every time they possessed the ball.

Even more amazing is that Nick Foles was the backup quarterback and should not even have been in the game had not the starter been injured and out of the running.  Neither before nor since has Foles had the same kind of success he had in the game but on that day, he outplayed one of the all-time greatest quarterbacks in NFL history.

While no one knows what the outcome will be today, I am going to go with Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City over Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Bucs.  I know I am most likely making the mistake of my life because Brady- with an opportunity to do something no other quarterback in the history of the game has ever pulled off- to win rings in two different conferences and with two different teams- will rise to the occasion to be sure.

I guess what I am gambling on is the fact that Patrick Mahomes is unpredictable as is his coach Andy Reid.  Coach Reid faced the Patriots long ago in Super Bowl XXXIX when he coached the Eagles and Donovan McNab was his quarterback.  In that game, the Patriots won by just a field goal but it’s clear that had not McNab run out of steam in the second half, they might have won that one.  Ah, well, hindsight being what it is, we have to look at things as they presently are and I am sure Coach Reid wants to beat Brady no matter what team for which he’s playing.[i]

We put the query to our pool of 1,284 friends, family, employees, coworkers, neighbors, and everyone else who participated in the Third Annual Lavrentiy Beria Award and here is what they’ve said: 641 are betting on the Kansas City Chiefs and 643 are going with Tampa Bay.  Everyone in the pool has put in $25 to make a pot of $32,100.  We went by scores and whoever comes the closest will win the pot.

Everyone has given us final scores, even with Kansas City or Tampa Bay at the top.  We have compiled them and we will see whoever comes the closest.  Other than that, we aren’t going to say much as we don’t want the IRS to come snooping around- and you wonder WHY we write with assumed names.

Friends, we will meet again.  Have a great next six months and we shall see what we shall see  Aloha.

We continue offering CDs today by the greatest San Francisco band of all time, the Jefferson Airplane.  The band’s twenty-second album, “At the Family Dog Ballroom 09/1969,” hit record store shelves on September 02, 2008 and was another historical live recording from out of the vaults.  This album is a great CD and it featured the band back at home from their lengthy 1969 Tour of the United States for a fleeting time.  Later in the year, they would appear at the infamous Altamont Concert with the Rolling Stones and other San Francisco/California bands.  We urge you to visit the Amazon.com website, so you can pick it up at the price that is perfect for YOU.

ENDNOTES:

[i] I will say this: I have considered that we could also have a ‘set up’ meaning like the great boxing matches of old, we could see the Tampa Bay Bucs beat the Chiefs today which would set up a rematch next year if both teams return to the top of the league for a rematch in Super Bowl LVI.  The stakes would be higher, the money spent on betting even more massive, sort of like the classic heavyweight matches between ‘Smokin’ Joe’ Frazier and Muhammad Ali.  It’s almost as if the outcomes are ‘arranged’ for maximum entertainment and monetary value although I do hope that this is not the case.  Still, can you imagine such an event if the Bucs should win this time around and both teams fight to the top of the heap in the 2021-22 NFL Season?  Whoa.
