17. TODAY IN HISTORY—SUNDAY, JANUARY 17, 2021

AA. 1943 Sunday: General Gabrielle Nasci of the Italian Alpine Corps received a letter from his German superiors alerting him that he and his corps were NOT to join the retreat from the Don Front. It alerted him that he would be held responsible for whatever was to come which meant they were being sacrificed to allow the Germans and the Hungarians to pull back. The Italian command in Russia- the ARMIR- told General Nasci later in the day to begin pulling back anyway, to break the Soviet encirclement of his forces before it was too late.

  64. 2020 Friday: The Chi-Coms waste no time: a man convicted of murdering a doctor on New Year’s Eve receives a penalty of death.  Apparently, attacks on medical personnel have increased in the communist giant following the outbreak of the Bat Flu and a lackluster response in dealing with it.  The man killed a doctor in Beijing.  So, 17-plus days after the crime, he’s tried and convicted and most likely going to have the sentence carried out soon.  The U.S. could learn something on this front.

Marjorie Taylor Greene’s articles of impeachment against “Chi-Com Joe” Biden on January 21, 2020 for his deep ties to COMMUNIST CHINA.  Speaking of the Chi-Coms, Vice President Mike Pence urges the incoming ‘Biden-Harris’ administration to maintain eternal vigilance on the communist Chi-Coms.  Elsewhere, one of the BOGUS Lincoln Project’s co-founders John Weaver steps down for having propositioned numerous young men seeking sexual hook-ups for misbehavior.  Lincoln Project is as bogus as is the 1619 Project, crackpot, left-wing BS crap.

  69. 2021 Sunday D: The Australian Open is going to proceed in early February as planned even though some tennis players must remain indoors for 14 days if anyone around them tested positive for the Chinese Virus.  Many players said they would not have come had they known they would have had to remain indoors without practice for two flipping weeks.  Who can blame them?   Elsewhere, Betty White hits 99 years of age today.  Meanwhile, fans of Jeopardy! want the stage named for the late host, Alex Trebek.

ALBUM OF THE DAY AT THE AICPENDBLOG.COM:

Not to be outdone by the competition, UFO released their first ‘best of’ album, “Space Metal,” on October 13, 1976.  Of course, this 2-LP set was issued by their original record company and it contained tracks from their first two albums plus some cuts from a live album released in Japan as a promotional effort.  Whatever the reason for the collection of cuts, we hope that you will seek this one out because as completists, we all want every scrap, every shard of music created by a band.  The group’s first two albums make anything one finds themselves forced to listen to nowadays, Mexican music, Maroon Five, some skank with a single name, sound like the crap it is because this stuff is smoking.  We hope you will rush out and give it a listen- you’ll enjoy it.

ENDNOTES:

[i] We promoted the music of the James Gang beginning on Saturday, 11-August-2012 through Monday, 27-August-2012.  We did not do the solo discography of Joe Walsh at the time but when we arrive at the Eagles, we most certainly will.

[ii] On Wednesday, 14-June-2017, we began presenting the music of the Guess Who and of its individual members- including Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Randy Bachman, Burton Cummings, and Bravebelt..  The entire discography ran from the above date through Sunday, 01-October-2017.  We hope you will check them out.

[iii] We shared the music of the Rolling Stones (and the group’s individual members) beginning Tuesday, 22-March-2016 through Sunday, 28-August-2016.  This included the members solo projects which include Mick Taylor’s solo efforts.

[iv] We presented another series of interconnected bands which included Free, Bad Company, Led Zeppelin, the Firm, Mott the Hoople, Ian Hunter, the Yardbirds, and a plethora of solo and group efforts beginning on Wednesday, 02-July-2014 through Sunday, 19-October-2014.  We definitely hope that you will seek this music out and consider adding it to your growing collection.  The debut Led Zeppelin album appeared on 07-July-2014.  We hope you will check this famed British band out.

[v] We presented the music of the Kinks, as well as of Ray and Dave Davies, beginning on Monday, 22-December-2014 through Sunday, 15-March-2015.  We hope you will check out the music of this original British invasion band as they are as relevant today as they were more than 50 years ago.  Sure beats the hell out of Maroon Five.

[vi] Many believe Barack Obama should be disqualified as a president because most believe he was born outside the United States which would ban him from ever seeking the highest office in the land.  At the very least, an asterisk should be placed by his name in all U.S. history books. (I don’t believe this- BOM)

Author: Chef Bea O'Malley, CWC-ACF, Mixologist, and Professional Foodserver

This is a cartoon caricature of me when I was working at a restaurant in Wasco, CA, my hometown. The up-and-coming Bakersfield, California, street artist Simone did portraits of each of us here at the blog so I hope you like them as much as I, ahem, do. The important thing for us as foodservice business owners is that we protect our identities because in the age of the Cancel Culture, IF Marxist punks leads boycotts against us, it can destroy businesses that have been around for years, if not decades. Ah, well, I joined the Chefs de Cuisine of Greater Bakersfield, ACF, not long after it was chartered and am still a member even though the chapter is no longer in operation. I began working in foodservice in the late 1960’s, moved from Wasco, CA, to Monterey, CA, and then returned to my hometown in 2004. I have been a foodserver, a Mixologist, and am a Certified Cook. I am equally at home in both the kitchen and behind the bar (and on the floor, too). My passions are numerous, and my favorite is working in the bakery whenever I have had a chance. Bea O’Malley writes from her hometown of Wasco, California Bea O’Malley is a proud member of the Democratic Party.
