The Xi Jinping Bat Flu isn’t killing the American people, it’s the excessive rules and regulations imposed upon us by Democratic and RINO governors and mayors

I agree with Stinkbug who said last week, EVERY BUSINESS OWNER MUST AGREE- FROM ONE END OF THE COUNTRY TO THE OTHER- TO REOPEN AT THE SAME TIME ON THE SAME DAY. They cannot strip all of us of our business licenses, our liquor licenses, close us down for ‘health violations,’ or send all of us to jail on trumped-up charges, especially if we come to one another’s aid.

FALL SESSION 2020

BLOG POST #3,703 AT THE AICP-END

ELECTION DAY 2020 PLUS FORTY-SEVEN

Restaurateurs are at the end of their rope (as are many other businesses in America)…

Century City, CA 90067, 12-20-2020 Sunday: I’m an old man, I’ve run my race, had one of the most successful Greek restaurants in Los Angeles, California.  We’ve made loads of money and we’ve lost loads of money.  I can retire at any time but my kids and their families had plans to continue the business for as long as they can.  People love Greek food, especially once they come to know and enjoy its ageless majesty, they come to love the piquant flavors of lemon, tarragon, capers, marjoram and pine nuts, chicken, lamb, feta cheese, and Greek ‘tamales’ (only ours come wrapped in grape leaves and not corn husks, we buy from the wine country of Northern California), people love it once they come to know it.

The Beijing Bat Flu combined with City Hall daily mandates are killing our restaurant.  It’s killing every other restaurant in the Greater Los Angeles area, one that stretches from the beautiful California coastline east to the scorched deserts, north to the Grapevine and its mountains and south to outlying communities and the long drive to San Diego.  While some places are able to be open, most are not, and without aid from Washington, D.C., what we are going to end up with is a vast wasteland as depicted by various sci-fi movies of the late 1960s and early 1970s.

None of this had to be.  None of this had to happen.  People can live their lives while at the same time being responsible as NO one wants to become ill, NO one wants to transmit the disease home to a loved one, and NO one wants to become a COVID-19 ‘Cory or Mary,’ a super-spreader of a foreign virus.

Yet, we also do not want to see our life’s work destroyed and our communities devastated.  Paying rents is becoming impossible.  Making mortgage and automobile payments is becoming problematic.  Maintaining our long-term and even our newer employees above a bare subsistence level is at a crisis point because we consider these people to be members of our extended families and do everything we can possibly can to aid them.

Their pain is our pain and there are days when I wake up and think, “Maybe if I stumble off a curb and into the street in front of a passing semi-truck, maybe it will appear to be an accident and my family can get my life insurance?”  Morbid, I know, but I am not the only person thinking once-horrible thoughts such as these, not because I wish to but because local and statewide politicians are forcing it upon me just as they are millions of my fellow citizens.

Then, I think no, there is no way I can do that because I don’t want to leave my wife alone.  She and I have had a long relationship and I love her more than life itself.  However, it’s difficult to see her pain, her depression, over losing the business we love so much, seeing the worry and concern on the faces of our kids and grandkids, on those of our employees.  Everyone walks around like a zombie, everyone thinks that this nightmare must end as if it continues another month, maybe two, or even three, the economic devastation is going to be impossible to repair.

Likewise, the declining mental and emotional stability so many Americans are feeling, suffering is difficult to repair if it goes beyond a certain point.  It is akin to being a civilian living in a warzone under the control of an occupying power.

Los Angeles has slammed the door shut on ALL dining, both within AND without in specially constructed tents upon which, we restaurateurs have spent sums of money we don’t have to construct.  Unless one is a caterer to a television or movie crew, we can no longer open in the middle of the street.

Our counterparts in New York City have had to empty similar amounts of vanishing cash reservoirs and yet, their mayor, Bill Di Blasio, like our mayor, the bum Eric Garcetti, won’t let most of us reopen, even for takeout.[i]  What are we to do?

I will tell you this, something I saw on Newsmax this past Wednesday: ONLY 1.4-percent of the Wuhan Flu cases in the Big Apple can be traced back to outdoor dining, 1.4-percent.  Why then are politicians who behave like thugs, dictators, potentates, satraps, and want-to-be kings shuttering restaurants who have bent over backwards to follow their ever-changing, oftentimes incoherent rules, edicts, regulations, and dictates issued to them.  Why?

I agree with Stinkbug who said last week, EVERY BUSINESS OWNER MUST AGREE- FROM ONE END OF THE COUNTRY TO THE OTHER- TO REOPEN AT THE SAME TIME ON THE SAME DAY.  They cannot strip all of us of our business licenses, our liquor licenses, close us down for ‘health violations,’ or send all of us to jail on trumped-up charges, especially if we come to one another’s aid.

It is the ONLY way in which, American business owners can save their businesses and the lives of everyone involved by standing up and making a show of unified force.  The only way.   Otherwise, I fear that when government minions show up and ask us WTF we are doing being open, people are going to begin being shot, beaten, tarred-and-feathered, or killed on the spot.  It is the only way.

Stinkbug said it best: we can all hang together or we can all hang separately.[ii]  There is power in numbers, in unification, in putting our lives and resources and honor on the line together.  It’s either that or we allow the Chi-Coms via their Democratic Party and RINO agents to buy up distressed properties, one after the other, and become our de facto landlords.  How flipping diabolical would that be?

Hopefully, I will see you in six months; but one never knows.  I could be in jail or I could be dead.  I am tired of the bulls**t and at my age, I don’t care if I shoot some son-of-a-bitch local government lackey telling me I cannot run my business.  I believe people are going to begin getting shot, it’s inevitable, especially seeing as how we are a FREE people unused to tyranny of any kind but especially from our own leaders.

What’s more, remember this: in New York City, 21,000 cases of the Chi-Vi are traceable back to private homes while ONLY- I repeat ONLY- 156 cases are traceable to professional foodservice establishments so why then are New Yorkers and we closed as though we are germ factories?  Let that one sink in for a while…

Please, let me know what YOU think.  God bless, have a wonderful Christmas, New Year’s Eve and Day and Kwanzaa…I hope to see you in six months but then, one never knows.  I could stumble in front of a metro bus, I could become the victim of a random crime (with the Chi-Coms being behind it), or I could be disappeared.  You just don’t know.

Merry Christmas!  Glorious Kwanzaa!  Happy New Year!  God bless America and the Devil take communist China.  Remember- support your local restaurants.  If they go under, so do all the businesses that service THEM.[iii]

Our Ten Years After album for today is their eighth album, “A Space in Time,” which came out on August 16, 1971 and which marked a transition to a more commercial sound and yet, it is their best-selling album. The hit, “I’d love to change the world (but don’t know how)” is one of the greatest rock anthems ever recorded and one still heard on FM radio to this day. Once again, we have the same quartet of hard-rocking Birmingham, England, rock-and-rollers: guitar phenomena and vocalist Alvin Lee, fiery bassist Leo Lyons, powerhouse drummer Ric Lee, and stellar keyboardist Chick Churchill.  Every fan of rock music of this era needs to buy it so please, go to Amazon.com by using the link posted above and BUY IT.

FOOTNOTES:

[i] Mayor Garcetti has dined at our restaurant on more than one occasion.  What I can say to this POS is that IF he ever returns, he and his family might find themselves with a major case of salmonella food poisoning.  Just saying, folks.

[ii] Echoing the bold words of our Founding Fathers.

[iii] It is not just restaurants and their employees who are suffering but companies with whom we do business like foodservice and liquor and beverage vendors as well as pest control services, laundry services, florists, plumbers, electricians, gardeners, fire suppression businesses, independent delivery drivers, bakers, and loads of other people.  They, too, stop doing business and businesses who supply them find themselves struggling, it’s like throwing a stone into a quiet pool and watching the successive ripples radiating outward over and over and over.  No, we are on the precipice of disaster, taxes are going unpaid, and look out for Social Security and Medicare going under sooner than later.  No, this is an absolute disaster, one I contend the Democrats and the Chi-Coms are orchestrating so they can come in and rescue the country.  Thank God we have our guns.
