Educated people might ask, ‘What is Betsy DeVos doing? When will the teaching of impartial and unprejudiced U.S. history, U.S. government, and the Constitution become mandatory at all levels of education?

The sad thing is this: very few younger Americans know anything of U.S. history, either good or bad, they just know the unsavory tidbits their history ‘professors’ choose to inculcate them with. It is no wonder so many of them are as stupid as they are but that is the case, it’s not their fault but that of the American educational system. When is Betsy DeVos going to reinstitute the required teaching of unbiassed U.S. history, political science, aka government, and the Constitution?

SUMMER SESSION 2020

BLOG POST #3,534 AT THE AICP-END

125 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2020

Happy Fourth of July!  Despite what you might hear, the United States is the best nation in the world…

Taft, CA 93268, 07-04-2020 Saturday:  Today is the 244th birthday of our country, a birthday unlike no other.  We are a great nation, one that has met and overcome all challenges thrown at us.  The liberal America-hating Democrats claim the nation’s history began with slavery, that 1619[i] is the year our nation truly was founded, not 1776, and that with the arrival of the first slaves from Africa, there is no redemption for the country, even though the torn asunder nation lost more than 600,000 American lives in the conflagration of the Civil War.

Granted, some of them were Southerners, which means that they fought on the side of slavery.  In the eyes of the modern-day Marxist mobs, this is a horrible evil thing, that these people, no matter if they owned slaves or they did not, makes all of them wicked, malevolent, and immoral.

That even though only a small percentage owned slaves, everyone who fought on the side of the South during the Civil War deserves to be condemned, their military monuments torn down, their gravesites pillaged and their bodies dug up and thrown to the winds.  What the hell has happened to our great country?  Where is the redemption for our fellow Americans?[ii]

Now, I have had the opportunity to attend college and to receive a degree.  One of the most important classes I ever took was African American History.  In so doing, I learned the truth from a distinguished black professor, one whose family originated from slavery in the Old South.  The best thing I ever have done is to have kept my textbooks.  Let me quote for you an extremely important fact:

“The ownership of slaves was as unevenly distributed as the slave population.  In 1860 only 383,673 white southerners out of nine million owned slaves.  Even when the immediate families of slaveholders are added, only 1.9 million—or less than 25 percent of the South’s white population—belonged to a slaveholding family.  In 1830, 36 percent of white southerners had owned slaves.” (Hine et al. 125).

Now history tells us that most slaveholders owned 20 or more slaves and that they lived and labored on large plantations.  Some people owned five or fewer slaves but most southerners did not own slaves at all.  Still, with the election of Abraham Lincoln in 1860 and with war clouds looming on the horizon, when the call to arms came and the birth of a new nation seemed possible, patriotic white southerners signed up, joined their regiments, and went off to fight for the Southern way of life.

The interesting thing in the history of this nation and one modern-day Democrats seldom bring up is that there was a class of southerners who also owned slaves, black slaveholders.  Here is what the same book has to say on these ‘left-out-of-history folks’:

“Since the time of Anthony Johnson in the mid-1600s, a few black people had been slaveholders and this class continued to exist.  In 1830, only 2 percent, or 3,775 free African Americans owned slaves.  Many of them became slaveholders to protect their families from sale and disruption.”  (Hine et al. 125).

The book from which, I am obtaining these facts, “The African-American Odyssey, Volume One: to 1877,” 2nd Edition 2003, also mentions that some black people owned fellow blacks for economic reasons, mainly because they had either achieved freedom or had come to America as free people, owned land, and like white slaveholders, owned slaves to do the manual labor.  In effect, it is what it is, different rules for different times.

If modern day race pimps such as Al Sharpton held honest discussions, it would be difficult to deny that people such as Natchez, Louisiana’s William Johnson, South Carolina’s Margaret Mitchell Harris, and Natchitoches, Louisiana’s Betsy Somayrac held fellow black men and women to work their vast tracts of land.  Yet, they do their best to whitewash the unsavory aspects of U.S. history while trashing and destroying everything else.[iii]

When is Betsy DeVos[iv] going to reinstitute the required teaching of unbiassed U.S. history, political science, aka government, and the Constitution?

It’s now or never.

FOOTNOTES:

[i] I believe the New York Times is where the “1619 Project” began, one in which, a reporter says the nation was founded on slavery.  While that is neither here nor there, the fact is this: the New World was built atop the backs of slaves but so was the rest of the world.  Some nations ended slavery sooner; others did so later.  As emancipation goes, the United States ended slavery halfway through the 19th century, Mexico did so sooner, Brazil later.  In socialist-communist systems, everyone but the top one percent- those in the favored class are SLAVES.  Is this the system in which, YOU want to live or raise a family?

[ii] Many of the military forts named for Southern officers are named for some of the greatest practitioners of the military arts.  They were Americans, they chose to withdraw from the U.S. military and fight for their home states.  State’s rights were much more important back in the 1800s than a unified nation and so many great generals fought for the South.  They were still Americans and were granted their citizenship once again, even Gen. Robert E. Lee, perhaps one of the United States’ all-time greatest generals.  Enough is enough.  They were given pardons.  Do we not believe in redemption and renewal?

[iii] I always find it amazing what leftists present or leave out of history.  You can tell what threatens their whacked-out theories or ideas.  The fact that blacks owned fellow blacks as slaves threatens them yet it’s the truth, perhaps an ugly one, but the truth, indeed.

[iv] This woman seems to have all but disappeared.  I would hope that Secretary DeVos is working hard to repair the damage to the nation’s educational system, from kindergarten to grad school.  Too many people today are miseducated and it must stop if we are to return to a patriotic, God-fearing nation once again.
