SPRING SESSION 2020
BLOG POST #3,512 AT THE AICP-END
147 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2020
George Floyd’s memorial services rivaled the coronation of Central African Empire’s Emperor Jean-Bédel Bokassa back in the 1970s…
Arvin, CA 93203, 06-12-2020 Friday: This past Tuesday, they finally got poor George Floyd into the ground. The man had not one but three memorial services, the last of which rivaled anything seen by the Central African Empire’s Emperor Jean-Bédel Bokassa. Now, I am not saying celebrating the life and death of George Floyd at the hands of an malevolent white cop is not worth what was put into it but what about all the other black men and women- civilians and cops alike- who are murdered every day? I mean, look at Chicago! Where are the NBA stars, the professional boxers, and the race pimps like Al Sharpton? I do not hear any of them wailing and gnashing their teeth, covering their lanky bodies with ashes and adorning sackcloth, the way they turned out for poor Mr. Floyd.
Do not get me wrong, friends, I think what happened to Mr. Floyd at the hands of Officer Derek Chauvin was appalling, shocking, and horrible. There are not enough adjectives with which to describe the horrible feelings that flooded my heart and soul when I watched the grisly tape, mouth agape. Why didn’t any of the other officers grab Chauvin’s arm and yank him off? Why didn’t any of the bystanders filming the incident throw down their phones and leap onto the cops’ backs? Getting an ass-whooping to save a life would have been worth it in that case and besides…ample evidence would have been available should any charges been lodged against the potential saviors to clear their names.
Involving Al Sharpton always raises questions in my mind. I mean, how much did the family of George Floyd have to pay him from the monies raised to help them with funeral expenses? Everyone knows that the Michael Jackson-wannabe wearing not one but two gloves is a huckster worthy of the Kern County Fair’s midway. He never does anything for free and always downgrades any event to which, he attaches himself.
The family said the funeral wasn’t going to be about politics yet down in Houston, it was about politics. Hence WHY Al Sharpton was there. He said, “someone was going to have to pay,” well, on Wednesday, I outlined a way by which, criminal cops convicted of first-degree murder and with hate crime convictions would face the death penalty via public hanging. I mean, what cop would ever commit a heinous act similar to what Derek Chauvin did? If I were a cop, I would do everything by the book.
I think that instead of ‘getting rid of the cops’ as so many in my party now seem to want to do (which is why my family and I recently bought some new guns to add to our gun safe, just in case), perhaps we should seek a ‘time out’ between police at all levels and the communities in which, they serve.
Imagine if minority communities like where I live, in the heavily Hispanic town of Arvin, said, “Okay, we will give the cops a chance to demonstrate they are not our enemies” and the cops said, “We are going to double down on respect for the community in which, we serve so we can improve relations all around.” Imagine, (as John Lennon once so eloquently sang), if everyone on both sides did their best to accomplish this noble goal and let’s say as time passed, people on both sides of the divide were able to see that peace returned to their communities and mutual respect for all was gained. ALL lives matter.
Most people want to get along with one another. What we don’t want is outside rabble rousers like Antifa coming into our community, stirring up trouble, burning everything down after looting everything that was not locked down. After all, when Antifa moves onto the next target, the locals must remain and must rebuild everything that they lost. It makes no sense.
My family and I are sad for George Floyd just as we are everyone else, like Ahmaud Marquez Arbery, and anyone else murdered for no apparent reason. We pray for their families, we hope they can pick up the pieces and move on with their lives. We hope these things won’t happen again and again so if it is possible, can we channel the good will that everyone hopes will linger following the three televised memorial services and do something with it instead of yammering about getting rid of cops? We need cops!
Friends, we have a golden opportunity to do something to make things better so let’s not permit political hacks, fascists, and race pimps to hijack the movement to improve things for everyone. Yes, black lives matter but so do the lives of everyone else.
Thanks for hearing me out. We will continue with more tomorrow.

This is a facsimile of me as a young chef back in the 1960’s when I was working as a sous chef at a fine dining restaurant, the Victor Hugo, over on the coast around Newport, California. I began my career working as a pot washer at the age of 10, move to washing dishes in 1958, became a chef’s apprentice in 1961 and have been a career professional ever since. I am still involved in professional foodservice as a consultant for food and beverage professionals. Famed Bakersfield street artist Simone created the cartoonish figure of me, which appears to be ‘me’ but I hope I look better than how he portrayed me. You are the judge.
