Police unions and their incestuous relationships with the Democratic Party are the primary reason as to WHY bad cops remain on the force no matter how many complaints they amass

This is why when we learn about a cop like Derek Chauvin, we are horrified to learn that he had more than a dozen complaints lodged against him over his 19 years or so with the MPD. I believe Officer Tou Thao had at least six complaints so why were these two still out on the streets, causing friction between the community and law enforcement when at best, they should have been riding desks or at worse, sent packing?

SPRING SESSION 2020

BLOG POST #3,506 AT THE AICP-END

153 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2020

By the time, the tale of George Floyd and Derek Chauvin ends, I suspect the latter will be facing first degree murder charges…

San Diego, CA 92122, 06-06-2020 Saturday: This past Wednesday, the Minneapolis Police Department arrested the other three officers who enabled Derek Chauvin to murder George Floyd- Thomas Lane, Tou Thao, and Alexander Kueng- and charged them with accessory to murder while ramping up the charges against Chauvin from third degree murder to second degree.

Nevertheless, I think by the time the FULL story comes out, it will be little more than a personal beef against Mr. Floyd, one harbored deeply by Officer Chauvin so that when the now dead black man fell into the hands of the embittered white cop, the latter simply could not help himself and did what he did while the others either assisted in the crime or looked on unconcerned. If my assumption is true, Chauvin will end up facing first degree murder charges and the possible death penalty, that is, if Minnesota still has it on the books.

Then, on Thursday, the memorial services for Mr. Floyd occurred, first in Minneapolis, the town he called home, and then across the country as mourners expressed their sadness at his loss. Things were mostly peaceful but I am always somewhat amazed as to how race baiter Al Sharpton always seems to hijack the moment. That man is a walking, talking time bomb and must go.

Sharing the same space with the arrests and the memorial services were increased calls around the country for the defunding of police departments across the nation. I guess this is the answer to the question as how to do something about bad cops never seeming to be held accountable for their crimes until they are so egregious, so heinous, and so public when what the nation truly needs is the ‘defunding of public employees unions.’ This is where the substance of the problem lies, the inability to terminate problematic people.

I spoke about this issue earlier in the week but disciplining and/or terminating troublesome workers in the private world is bad enough due to all the state and federal regulations piled atop us but when unions are involved- especially public sector unions- the problem becomes even more difficult when one goes after bad teachers, firemen-and-women, and especially cops.

Now we know that more black and Hispanic people are murdered by fellow black and Hispanic people and not by the cops. That is why when we hear of something like what the four bad apples in Minneapolis did to a submissive black ‘suspect’ is doubly disturbing because this stuff does not happen all that often or if it does, it occurs out of the public’s line of sight and we only hear about it.

This is why everyone is so up in arms. We witnessed the life being crushed out a helpless man on the ground, all the while cell phone cams are whirring away, capturing evidence that will lead to the downfall of the four cops as well as stir up global protests and launch violent riots across the country.

What’s more, we don’t support what the four officers did and don’t want to see it ever happen again yet once the riots begin, once the looting occurs, once the glass is breaking, cars being set ablaze, we forget everything else and want to see law and order restored because this is not how a civilized society behaves.

Up the road in Los Angeles, California, Mayor Eric Garcetti wants to pull $100 million away from law enforcement. My wife and I won’t be visiting that city anymore, that I can tell you. We love Los Angeles but not enough to put either of our lives at risk so vamanos to L.A., no más, amigos, no más.

Should San Diego announce it’s going to do the same, I guess it will be time to move to Idaho. We love California but enough is enough, folks.

This is a caricature of me created by up-and-coming Bakersfield street artist Simone. We decided to go this route to protect our identities from readers who make some virulent threats, which means we find it best to use cartoons instead of photos. Anyhow, I began my culinary career in the 1950’s and had the good fortune of working with many different chefs before meeting my good friend, Stinkbug, in the mid 1980’s in Bakersfield. I am still working part-time in my semi-retired years in my hometown in San Diego, CA.
