WINTER SESSION 2020
BLOG POST #3,407 AT THE AICP-END
252 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2020
Wouldn’t it be great IF politicians would stop with the BS and do what is right for we, the American people?
Ventura, CA 93001, 02-28-2020 Friday: One of the problems the United States is struggling with is the extreme level of partisanship and rancor among our elected representatives in both Sacramento and in Washington, D.C. The coronavirus scare has people looking for answers and all they see are politicians going at one another, seeking to score cheap points, and if possible to destabilize our politics even more than they already are.
I am not afraid of the coronavirus in the same way I was the Ebola virus scare when President Barack Obama was in charge. I guess what alarmed me was the same thing that frightened millions of others and it was the symptoms of bleeding from every orifice and the fact that people coming into contact with sufferers found themselves almost always among them, exposure being extremely high.
The Ebola outbreak began in July 2014 and carried over until 2016. The thing that caused much consternation among the American people is WHY President Obama was willing to bring Americans, as well as some foreigners, here to the United States for treatment. Why not treat them overseas?
The fact that Ebola was devastating West Africa killing tens of thousands of people made everyone glad that it was over there and not here. Thanks to Obama, it had the potential to spread both here in our country and throughout the Western Hemisphere had the disease escaped and spread to the general population. Thankfully, that did not happen.
It seemed at the time that perhaps there were some within the Obama administration wanted to see it get loose among the general population. After all, we had infected doctors and nurses returning from West Africa going rogue, riding buses and trains after having demonstrated that perhaps they did suffer exposure. Again, thankfully the Ebola virus did not escape and spread as possibly the conditions for it were not as favorable here as it is in the tropics.
Now, we have had numerous health scares since 2000. We have seen SARS. We have seen MERS. We have seen West Nile Virus and we have seen Zika virus along with Mad Cow Disease and other strange and peculiar diseases with the potential to wreak havoc on an unprotected population.
One would think that since we do face these diseases with the potential to become pandemic that we would seal the southern border, restrict flights from afflicted areas, and do everything possible to move the homeless from the streets into facilities where we can increase their hygiene and monitor their movements.
Everyone has been predicting some sort of pandemic is going to occur unless we move people off the streets and into programs designed to help them. We cannot have them crapping and pissing in the streets, throwing needles and baby diapers and other fetid garbage with the potential to spread disease. Yet, our esteemed Democratic leadership seemingly could give a hoot and so the diseased continue to languish in the streets of many cities.
Rahm Emanuel once said, “Never let a good crisis go to waste.” How about this: close the borders. Screen whoever wants to enter the country and monitor from where they come. Round up illegals and deport them as quickly as possible. Take the homeless off the streets.
Find shelter for the truly homeless while sending the addicts into forced care/treatment facilities. Keep them there- against their will if need be- until they are clean and have undergone rehabilitation. Their rights mean nothing when the greater good is concerned and so it must be.
Throwing billions of dollars at the coronavirus is fine. However, unless both parties bury the hatchet and begin working together for the benefit of the American people, it most likely will mean little to nothing IF we see a pandemic break out. Then, it won’t matter if you are a Republican or a Democrat, a communist or a conservative, all that matters is if you are or you aren’t sick.
Politicians: do the right thing. Get it together, shut the hell up, and quit seeking ways to trash political enemies while doing nothing for we, the American people.
See you tomorrow.
