WINTER SESSION 2020
BLOG POST #3,381 AT THE AICP-END
278 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2020
Politics is a contact sport but enough is enough, Dems, give it a rest already…
Wasco, CA 93280, 02-02-2020 Sunday: Well, Friday was the day and things did not go well for the Democrats in the House and Senate who have been down upon their knees praying that the impeachment trial would plod onward and that President Trump would forever be underneath a black, low-hanging cloud. The fact that things did not go the way as planned tells me the whole thing was nothing but a politicized ploy, a tactic, one the leadership of my party thought would be the silver bullet with which to take out the werewolf who gives them the night terrors.
I get it, Adam Schiff, Jerry Nadler, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer and the rest of the Democrats in Congress all hate the president and want to see him gone. They call him names, infer he is a dictator, a king, a thug, you name it, and using the power of the bully pulpit he punches them back three times, four times as hard. Ouch. Politics is a contact sport, just like today’s super bowl.
I know the aforementioned Democrats have put bank on getting Trump out because it has become personal for them. Most Republican presidents stand there and take it like martyrs or because they accept that the nonstop assault comes with the territory but not Trump and that is why so many Republicans and now Democrats and independents support the man.
Much to the chagrin of many, I have told you that Tibe and me and quite a few family members are going to vote for him in November. We don’t mention our defections to the neighbors or to our employees because we feel like runaway slaves heading north with Harriet Tubman.
Moreover no one can tell us that the booming economy and positivity most people walk around with is a result of President Obama’s policies because they most certainly are not. Donald Trump bears full responsibility for what we are experiencing and none of us want it to stop or go away.
Even more of a driving force in our plans to vote for Trump is look at what is going on in our party. Bernie Sanders, a non-Democrat, could very well be our nominee. Most sane Democrats are not going to vote for him or for Elizabeth Warren or that puffed up little piece of canned obnoxiousness Mayor Pete. We also can’t go with billionaires like Tom Steyer and Michael Bloomberg who are doing everything possible to buy the nomination and then- if they win- tell us how we can and cannot live our lives.
I know some of my Democratic friends say that ‘Trump bought the presidency back in 2016.’ As I recall, he spent almost nothing on ads because every news show on every channel invited him on because they thought they could laugh at him or belittle him or whatever they thought and he knocked out 16 other Republicans. He knocked them out while everyone was pointing their fingers at him, laughing at him, mocking him.
I will admit, when he questioned Barack Obama’s citizenship, Tibe and me were pissed but due to economic gains, our IRAs going up like the dickens, the fact that our business is booming, we are in the black now more than ever and our employees are seeing pay increases so what is there not to like? Let bygones be bygones.
Friends, I will be back in six months, the Lord willing, so let us leave it at that. If my party’s leaders would leave Trump alone, they might be able to recover some dignity and some sanity but I seriously doubt that they will or can. This will lead to a mess at our convention in Milwaukee later in the summer and if things continue going the way they are, what happened in Chicago in 1968 might look like nothing compared to what IS going to happen.
Today, I am going to close with this: I think the Kansas City Chiefs will beat the San Francisco 49ers simply because Andy Reid has been in a super bowl as a coach and lost so I think this time, his experience will lead his team to a victory for the first time in 50 years. This is not to diminish the other side one bit; I am just saying what I think. I guess we shall see.
Until next time. God bless you all, bless our country, and please, give the leaders of my party some peace and allow their common sense to return.
