BLOG POST #2,883 AT THE AICP-END

FORTY-SEVEN DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2018

I offer an apology to the AICP-END Blog community for whatever I might have said that caused my account to suffer a temporary suspension

Shafter, CA, 09-22-2018 Saturday:  Amigos, one of the many problems that our modern world suffers from is rampant overuse of freedom of speech online.  We say all manner of things to people who say all manner of things back to us and then some.  Sometimes, it is difficult to detect whether one’s comments are flippant or whether they are deadly serious such as someone saying they are going to do something extremely violent such as come and put a bullet through your head.

This past Wednesday, I found my Google Plus account suspended.  I was not sure what exactly it was I said or to whom I caused offense.  With my account reduced to a minimal presence, I could not plumb the depths seeking a specific comment that hurt someone’s feelings or rankled the skin on the back of their neck so I submitted an apology to the good folks who run Google Blogger who allow us to share our thoughts online with our friends around the globe.

The major issue of the day is the Supreme Court nomination of Judge Kavanaugh, to become an assistant justice on the nation’s highest court, a job of lifetime tenure unless of course, a sitting justice does something so egregiously disqualifying as to earn a rare impeachment and removal from the bench.

People on both sides of the fence are highly upset.  The rhetoric is overheated and the female senators are doing what they always seem to do and that is attacking the men.  Other women such as Joy Behar, perhaps among the ugliest and most ignorant woman I have ever seen or heard, toss in the qualifier of race and age, “OLD WHITE MEN sitting in judgement of a delicate female.”

Now, I made an error of saying that I thought that perhaps the Kavanaugh Accuser is the one in the wrong here.  I believe Judge Brett Kavanaugh when he says he ‘knows nothing about the accusations being made by his accuser.’

Men in positions of prominence and power such as employers understand that more often than not- especially as our power and prominence grows– women and occasionally men are going to hit on us and when rebuffed, some of them are willing to go the extra mile at destroying the man who waved off their advances.

I implied that perhaps the Accuser had made the moves on the Judge when the two were in high school in Maryland and that perhaps he was on the straight and narrow and held no interest for her.

Now, this was not to say that the Accuser is a bad person or that her morals were not as lofty as they should be.  It was to say that what interests one person in another might not have interested the future judge in her.

As I said, some people take any perceived slight to heart and keep it there.  They could ruminate and ruminate over the ‘perceived slight’ for years to come and then seal it away in the dark recesses of their mind until it pops out in a therapy session or in a nightmare years, even decades later and then it is as fresh as it was or even worse because of the passage of time and the sudden reappearance of the hurt.

Now, I am a Democrat, albeit an OLD-TIME BLUE DOG DEMOCRAT.  As a business owner and an employer, as a family man with kids and grandkids, I have a position of prominence within my community and friends from Alaska to Hawaii, from Canada to California, and all along the West Coast and then some.

I find the actions of current Democrat leaders appalling.  I find the fact that Senator Dianne Feinstein held onto this ‘letter’ from the Accuser all throughout her interviews with Judge Kavanaugh and then through the hearings highly suspect.  I contend she either held them as one final volley in case they could not stop his nomination from going through or because she feared the stability and the veracity of the Accuser.

Either way, she put them out there when the confirmation battle was OVER.  I view this as suspect, as dirty politics, and as a Latino man, I am less inclined to believe the words of the Accuser NOW than I would have had the letter come out at the very start of the process.

We cannot hammer the Republicans for being dubious about the Accuser.  I am suspicious.  I think that if I were the GOP and were faced with these conspicuously arrogant stall tactics that if my deadline came and went or the Accuser and her allies continue moving the goalposts, I would hold the vote for the Judge and be done with it.

Democrats should not fear someone such as Judge Kavanaugh being on the bench; it is clear through his words and through his writings that he holds the law in high regard and will interpret cases based on the Constitution and only that document and will not legislate from the bench.

The only thing the Dems fear is the abolition of abortion but that is highly doubtful that it will ever occur.  However, I would love to see it restricted to the first trimester of a woman’s pregnancy because this late-term abortion genocide is little more than a house of horrors and should stop.

Thanks for being with me today, mis amigos, we will conclude our week tomorrow and make sure if you wish to read the unadulterated text because our hosts ghost us, make sure you use the links that will redirect you to our WordPress site as there and only there, you can get the full text of each post sans all the bells and whistles one finds here.

Dems, stop with the delay tactics and accept that Kavanaugh is going through as if you do not, the losses our party is going to suffer will be incalculable due to your stupidity on this and other issues such as the Mueller investigation.

I hope I offended NO one today.  Thanks, Google for allowing my voice to be heard- I owe you.

Muchas gracias, buen amigos!

As have the rest of my colleagues, local Bakersfield street artist, Simone, created these portraits of me that you will see over successive days here at the blog.  I guess Simone did ‘okay’ in capturing my likeness; I guess it could have been worse.  I was a young cook back in the early 1960’s when I commenced my culinary career.  I served underneath a Master Chef for many years before striking out on my own.  I went up the coast of the Western United States and Canada, working all the way, until I made it to Alaska.  From there, I moved to Hawaii for a couple of years (1994-1997) before I returned to Washington State and it was there that I met Stinkbug.
